My dress has pearls sewn into the bodice and I'm wearing a pearl headpiece. I have never heard of this superstition and know of several ladies that wore pearls on their wedding day. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's a strong cultural belief in your circle or something.

My fiance's birthstone is pearl. The earrings my sister wore for her wedding have pearls, so I found a pearl pendant necklace to go with them.
