pave, prong, or channel set wedding band with a 1 carat round solitaire?

Tracey , on March 16, 2013 at 9:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Hi all.... we are shopping for my wedding band to go with my solitaire e-ring. It is a round 1C 4 prong in white gold. I know i want a diamond wedding band (not an enhancer). I originally thought a pave style band would look nice, but then just ordered a channel set instead. Now I am looking online at all three and confused again. The pics are not mine, but different people found on google

First pic= pave

Second=prong

third=channel

What do you think looks best with the e-ring?

    MJ> i read that channel set is way more comfortable to wear.. that prongs are not comfortable to the sides of your fingers and "fuzzies" get stuck in the prong styles.

    HMM tough choice

    I love the prong set.. That's what I got with my solitaire and the diamonds catch so much light!

    I really really appreciate you all helping me think this out Smiley smile. hmmm i guess another trip to Kays tomorrow.. my FH already wonders why i loved the 1st enhancer style one then changed my mind (didn't like that it looked like one ring...... ordered a channel set band today.... AND>>>oh i don't know what he will think when i say i wanna look and change one more time.. i think i am a little crazy.. just want to be absolutely sure.. and that is near impossible for me (Except i am sure i want to marry him)

    Well the issue without seeing your ring is the height. While I like the 3rd the most in the pics because the other ones seem to not line up with the ring completely it doesn't mean it'll look that way with your ring.

    I'd go to a jeweler and look to see what you like most, I have a pave one and love it Smiley smile I love the little stones.

    You could also consider a wrap which your ring would go in the center of and it would have diamonds on both sides... For a solitaire I like the wraps more

    Yeah.. i should have taken pictures with each one on my hand and came home to sleep on it. walked in there to order a pave style.

    @Michelle.. i had a wrap first.. and it made my stone look huge with the other diamonds beside it.. but i just didn't like how it looked like one ring and felt the "extra side diamonds" kind of took away from the solitaire in a way

    my dress, bm dresses, cake, and florist are all purchased or booked.

    I am struggling with program, songs, etc.

    My wedding ring is channel set, very comfortable, does not snag on anything, and sparkles a lot. It's platinum with diamonds all the way around, so I don't have to worry about it spinning.

    Thank you all. I went back to Kay's today and tried it on again and I have decided to stick with the channel set. I'll post pics when it comes in Smiley smile

    I don't like 3 at all! Takes away from the diamond. 1 or 2 is my vote with 2 being my fav Smiley smile

    I like prong set. But it's just personal preference! Your less likely to lose a diamond with the channel set! My mom lost a diamond from her ring and had it all re-set channel style!
