Party not a Reception

Shannon, on July 13, 2012 at 1:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm thinking about having a party instead of a full on wedding reception. I'd like to get married in the courthouse or at the party venue with a small number of family and friends on 10.11.12 then have a big party later that evening. I want the party because I have NO desire to have a formal reception and a party suits us better as a couple (my fiance is a DJ). We just want to have fun celebrating with our friends. Do we need to have a formal reception?

No way!! Your wedding celebration should be exactly what you want it to be! My cousin is having DW in August, she is hosting a bbq in october as her "reception" for the large amount of friends/family that couldn't go. And believe me, we won't be seeing any formal wear there... lol

What suits your style and desire is more important than formality. Party it up!

You can have whatever you want, and a party sounds fun! My sister didn't have a formal reception either, just a backyard BBQ with music in the background an d great food. None of the formals stuff you generally see at a wedding, but it worked perfectly for the two of them as a couple. Do what you feel works for you!

No way do you need a formal reception.

Just say via word of mouth/phone calls/tsts/facebook what ever.

Were having a huge party to celebrate the fact we tied the knot. If you wanna come dance the night away with us we will be at _____ at ___time

That is still a reception, the formality of it is strictly up to you! Go for it, The party is what everyone is looking forward to anyway!

Nope, no formal reception needed. Ours could have been considered a huge party though.

    It was still a reception.
