Parent/Grandparent Dance Song idea

RJmargo, on December 27, 2015 at 2:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

FH and I are trying to decide if we want to do a joint family dance or do individual dances. FHs mom passed, so he will be dancing with his grandmother. I will be dancing with my dad. I'm kind of leaning towards us doing one song/dance rather than two separate dances.

I've browsed various suggestion lists, but FH and I can't agree on an appropriate song. Have any of you done the joint parent dance? What song have you done/are you doing? Any suggestions on songs we could do would be much appreciated.

What popped into my head right away was "Because you loved me." It would have to be a non-gender specific song if you are going to do it together. Another option might be to cut the individual dances short as opposed to dancing for a whole 4-minute or so song. Say FH dances with his grandma for about 2 minutes and then you dance to another song with your dad for about 2 minutes. I've seen it done that way at a wedding before, I assume to keep the pace of the reception going.
