PAPER or ONLINE RSVP?

Can't decide between the two! Even if the online RSVP seems to have more pros than cons. If you used ONLINE RSVP, which one did you use? We want an easier way for our guests to reply and at the same time help us keep track of who already replied. The excel spreadsheet seems overwhelming if we do the paper RSVPs. We found an online RSVP that helps with seating charts and asks extra questions if needed. Any thoughts and advice is appreciated!

FH is really against online RSVP. He says some things shouldn't be lost to technology. So we are doing traditional paper RSVP. My brother did online only and a lot of guests couldn't figure it out. I don't think there is anything wrong with options

We are most likely going to be doing paper only but knowing my FH family we will probably be doing a lot of chasing up

I would agree with both. Some people don't understand you have to RSVP through email.

I don't think we'll do paper at all. We're using RSVPify.com. Free for up to 100 guests. I'm not going to include FILs or my immediate family on RSVPify. So far I love it. I easily created my account and included a security pass code that we'll include with the invites. My friend getting married on Saturday used anrsvp.com. She said it saved her at least $80 in postage. I think she had to input each guest's name. She included the guest password specific to us in our invite. I don't have to do that with RSVPify. After entering the pass code, guests enter names of all in their party, and specify yes or no for each guest.

I used both, decided to include paper at the last minute and am so glad I did. Most of our guest list use facebook invites and emails to communicate regularly, so I thought they would all like the online RSVP. 95% of our guests mailed back the card, only a few people used online RSVP. Honestly, the mailed ones were easier to track. I lost track of some of the people who RSVPed though the WW website and forgot they RSVPed when my mom asked. If I did it again, I would probably do all paper.

I'm using the RSVP feature through WW, however I will still be adding an rsvp enclosure and instructions on how to rsvp through the online service. I'll also be adding my MOH's contact info for those who have computer issues to rsvp through her (she offered lol).

We're doing online RSVPs through our wedding website. For our website over on TK, I had to make sure the guest book was updated with everyone's names listed as they will be addressed on the invitation. I tested it and it seemed really simple. I also included my phone number on the enclosure card just in case people have trouble. Fingers crossed!

I did online RSVP through WW. Most of my friends and family are tech savy, but we only had 23 out of 87 people RSVP. I had to chase down the rest. In hindsight, I may have sent them in the mail, but I'm not too convinced my result would have been different ...

I just finished my order for stationary last night and finally settled on 100% online RSVP. I was thinking of doing a combo but I didn't want to spend money on postage which would most likely get thrown away

    My RSVP reads

We look forward to seeing you on our big day!

    Please RSVP online at:

I'm still undecided. My current plan is to do online. A separate little card with the invitation will have the wedding website address. But I do have a few elderly guests that I will be sending actual RSVP cards to since I know they will appreciate it.

I just really don't want to pay for more stamps to put on the RSVP envelope

We did online RSVP only, a very small amount of people don't use computers (parents friends)

I would honestly say go the old fashioned way. I know for myself, even though I'm all tech savvy, things get pushed to the side... seeing the RSVP card there and knowing it has to be returned reminds me that I need to do that. I feel like giving the people the option to RSVP online might make them put it off more or totally forget.

Plus, it's fun to see mail in your mailbox that's not a bill or junk mail Smiley smile

I'm doing online that way people HAVE to go on the website which is more of a chance of them seeing all the other info. Also it's easier to keep track of and faster for all the last minute RSVPers! Smiley smile

Thank you everyone! Everyone made some great points in why both or why paper and why just RSVP online.

I think going back and forth, for me doing both isn't really gonna save me time or headaches. Seems more of double work. I think if your going to choose-- to either choose one or the other so you don't have to keep trying to figure out if X responded thru paper or online. I know either way we are all gonna have to follow up with some people.

My FH and I decided to do it all paper. Helps us keep track of it all (by numbering each card to a corresponding number on spreadsheet), and keep from guessing who will respond in what way. I rather if the stamps get wasted that it's because they didn't mail it in on time instead of choosing an alternative way (free online) to RSVP. So purposely not using the stamp.

I did think about- if I did both, I wouldn't provide the stamp to force people to RSVP online.

For those of you using paper: TIP -- USE FOREVER stamps. So you don't have to worry about stamp inflation and your RSVP cards bein sent back.

I do like snail mail and old fashion communication. So I agree with you @Jennifer G it will be nice to see all the mail come back. We might even give a price to the first and 100th person to respond! I agree with your FH @ShannonA technology takes over sometimes but they can easily be forgotten. The feel of a card invitation and see it there staring at you to mail.

@FutireMrsGulotta & @Alison-- hope this all helps you decide!

I giving my guest three options. Using our wedding website, emailing our wedding email, or calling ( that is basically for older guests)
