PAPER or ONLINE RSVP?

mrs. joyceee, on December 31, 2013 at 6:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

Can't decide between the two! Even if the online RSVP seems to have more pros than cons. If you used ONLINE RSVP, which one did you use? We want an easier way for our guests to reply and at the same time help us keep track of who already replied. The excel spreadsheet seems overwhelming if we do the paper RSVPs. We found an online RSVP that helps with seating charts and asks extra questions if needed. Any thoughts and advice is appreciated!

We did both. I honestly prefer online rsvp but I wanted to give my guests options. I did my online ones through WW.

ETA: What I did was put my website on my invitation and said to rsvp there but also included the rsvp with the envelope.

I used the WW website RSVP feature... I have had to track down so many people and got so many complaints from people that simply DID NOT READ the whole invitation! Made me batty! In fact I'm less than a month from my wedding, a week from having final counts due to the venue and I'm STILL trying to get answers! If you do online include a separate enclosure card with instructions how to do so.

Sorry didn't mean to rant on your thread but its a hot button for me right now.

I agree with you Future Mrs. Owens. I had to call people but I am so glad I also included the actual rsvp card.

@SoontobeMrsE & @Future Mrs. Owens -- did you send everyone RSVP cards, instructions to online RSVP, & self addressed envelopes?

    @FutureMrs.Owens everything will be great!

I'm giving people the option for both. At the bottom of our RSVPs it says "Please RSVP via mail, email, or wedding website."

I just put it at the bottom "RSVP and For More Information :" website address. I got at least ten people saying "I'm coming, but you forgot to put an RSVP card in." So frustrating! Save your self frustration and spend the money on the enclosure card. My penny pinching bit me in the ass.

ETA: I did not include any enclosure cards, just the invitation.

Can you make an option to do both instead of either/or?

You can include RSVP enclosures in all of your invites and you can put on their that they can also RSVP at (include website here).

Both. I like the look of paper ones but also wanted the online.

I would do both! For those savvy enough to RSVP online, they'll know what to do. My cousin and I used WW to track both the paper RSVPs and the online. Yes it was a little bit of data entry, but having it all together in one spot made it easy. Use the paper RSVP enclosures for those more traditional and for a complete look of an invitation (if budget allows of course). Best of luck!

We put an RSVP card with the online RSVP info as well as a SASE. We had our website/online RSVP on WW. People used both options but there were still a bunch of no responses that we had to nag. There's no perfect solution to avoid that.

    I'm doing

    RSVP by:

    phone (number goes here),

    email (insert email address here)

    wedding website (website address here)

That being said, our wedding will only have 80-100 attendees. I don't mind chasing down some, which I expect to do.

If you are having a big wedding then maybe including multiple ways to RSVP isn't a bad idea...

@mrscountrylace did you also send an RSVPcard to everyone?

I'm starting to feel that if I do both, I'm actually going to end up wasting more money since I'm sending everyone a card and then I will also have to send another enclosure for directions online.

    All the inputs are great!

We allowed for both but preferred online RSVPs. In our invitations it gave an option for both but we did not provide a stamp on the self addressed envelope. We had maybe 5 that sent it through the mail. But our website was a huge focus point for us and we encouraged it when we sent out the Save the Dates.

You wouldn't have to send a seperate enclosure for directions on how to do it online. Just direct them to your website (on your RSVP enclosure, at the bottom) and when they go to the website the directions will be there.

This is another website where people can RSVP

We used both but it just made it confusing for me. 80 percent of guest mailed the card back opposed to rsvp online anyway. Wish I would’ve just used the paper rsvp method.
