Panic/pissed at Venue

Chelsea, on January 9, 2020 at 1:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi! I live in Toledo, OH. I booked with stranahan theater & great hall back in October. They gave us a list of places that have catered with them before. My FH and I are set on BBQ. We have been getting quotes with catering companies since November. In November we did taste testing with City BBQ. City BBQ was listed number 2 on their list. I made a comment to City BBQ which we loved that they are charging us the most for the kitchen fee that stranahan theater charges all catering companies. They are charging them which the bill is sent to us 20% of the food bill when others are 10-20%......

Well City BBQ decided to have a meeting with them to work with them on lowering the rate. stranahan theater & great hall told them that they wont budge and are no longer doing business with them....

Okay my mind is freaking out. So what BBQ places can I use? Why do you charge others different fees? We really wanted to go with City BBQ. You guys reffered them is that breaking contract? Like what if we pissed them off asking this and now I dont have a venue...

Advice!

If you signed a contract with the venue and you payed a deposit you still have a venue unless they fully regund it. Call them and ask what other bbq place they would recommend since they decided to stop doing business with the one you like

Have you asked your venue if they've partnered with another BBQ caterer since they're no longer doing business with City BBQ? I don't think you have to worry about "not having a venue" over asking about the kitchen fee if you've already signed a contract with them. I also don't think dropping City BBQ as one of their preferred caterers is breaking their contract unless it explicitly states something along those lines in the contract.

Oh my goodness. That sucks! I think your ok on still having your venue. I would definitely call and see if they can recommend any other bbq. Is there a Rudy's bbq up there? They're out of Springfield and cater to my work all the time. Even though they're not as good as city, they're still decent. My coworkers love it.
