Panic Attack on Wedding Day....Xanax was a lifesaver

Michelle628 is now a Mrs!, on August 18, 2010 at 7:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

I am never the center of attention and for some reason about an hour before the ceremony I started having a panic attack. I couldn't breathe and was sweating and felt like I was going to pass out. DS and I took all our pictures beforehand and I was fine when I was with him so I know it wasn't because I was getting cold feet but when a lot of people starting coming around us I got nervous. Thank god my cousin had a Xanax because her daughter got married 3 months before and got nervous and brought one for me in case I needed it. Just giving advice....if you get nervous at all you might want to ask your doctor to give you a prescription for 1 pill. I have no idea what I would have done without it that day!

Michelle, I was the same way. I was fine right up to the point off the final touches. I had all my female relatives helping me out. Then it was just my Dad & I. My heart started to pound so hard I thought it would burst! Started to shake too. But as soon as I started that walk and could see Fh standing there with his ear to ear grin. I calmed down. As soon as our hands touched it was back to him and me and the world receded. That said, I prolly would have accepted a xanax! It's always good to be prepared!

DS kept trying to calm me down. When it was just him and I it was fine. I was fine even with the bridal party. But then DS whole family started coming up to us while we were taking pictures before the ceremony and I freaked out. It just felt so strange....I forgot my heart was pounding too. Thank god for my cousin because I don't think I would have been able to calm down.

When I think about it I get really really nervous, but I used to do theater and dance in both high school and college. Right before a performance I would get quiet, focus my thoughts, and take a deep breath and get to it. But it always helped that the lights were so bright you could never see anyone - this is a little different. I'm hoping that I'll deal well!

@MrsJoseph...I danced for 12 years from 1st grade through high school. I was fine until about an hour before the ceremony. All of a sudden my heart starting pounding, I started sweating and I couldn't breathe. I think it was because we were taking immediate family pictures and DS's whole family thought they should be there to watch. So there was about 15 people standing there watching before the ceremony when they really didn't need to be there at that point. My cousin gave me a 1/2 of a pill and in 10 minutes I was calm. I have never felt that way before and I don't wish it on anyone.
