Paid in full but still haven't gotten the photos after 4months

Danielle, on June 9, 2016 at 8:11 PM Posted in Planning 1 28

I'm having problems with getting my photos and video from the wedding. Everything was paid in full as required. The photographer sent us a link with the nonedited pictures and POOF written across each one. He wanted to know if I wanted all the pictures or just a handful. I confirmed that I wanted all (because it was cheaper as a package). 2 months after the wedding he told me that it would only take about 2 days to edit them but with how busy he is it will take about a month for them to get to me. I was surprised that he still didn't work on them in those 2 months but went with his new time line. That month has come and past. I can't get a hold of him, don't have my pictures and he has a lot of my money. What do I do? The videographer that works with him but was paid separately and talks directly to me is doing the same thing. 3months after the wedding he responded to me through email that he is working on it but has a lot of work this season so it will take a bit. 4months and counting

Wow I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. I wish I had some advice but that really is a tough situation. I hope that you get it all figured out and end up with beautiful pictures.

I had this situation. My photographer and videographer went MIA for months. Server all contacts through text, phone, email didn't work but finally answered after 4 months and that's when I requested an In person meeting. It was definitely annoying and took longer than expected!

Oh this stinks. What did you contract say? Make sure you are documenting on conversations.

Is the turnaround time in your contract? If so tell them you want them you have patiently waited X amount of time. If no response I would start writing poor reviews.

Maybe try posting an honest review on the wedding websites. If they realize that it could effect their business then perhaps it will move you to the top of the list.

This really sucks! Does your contract say anything about when pictures are to be delivered by?

It unprofessional for him to give a date and not stick with it. With that said read your contract. My photographer states in her contract that she is under no obligation to give us the photos until May 31 (no matter what the wedding date) or 2 months after our wedding date which ever comes last. She said that usually she gets them done before hand but fall and winter are such a busy time that she cannot make promises.

If all else fails, have a family member contact them for an in person meeting to discuss one of their packages. Then you go and sit down with them. Bring up getting a lawyer if you don't get your pictures by a certain date.

Don't write any bad reviews until after you get your pictures! If you do the photographer may never give you your photos! Just email him a few more times because it is wedding season and the photographer may be extremely busy. None the less check the contract on turn around time.

Yeah I wouldn't write any bad reviews until after you get your photos. Check your contract. Does it say a date they were supposed to give you everything by? Threaten court!

I would check your contract to see if it states how long the photos are going to take. If he's still within that timeframe, you probably can't do anything yet. If he has exceeded that timeframe, I would give him a deadline and let him know that if you don't have the photos by that deadline, you will be contacting a lawyer.

Document each attempt to make contact with the vendor. Review your contract. If they continue to ignore calls I'd pursue it legally. I can understand that editing takes time but when a customer needed answers they should be providing them promptly.

My contract was with the venue and they have independent contractors that they work with for the flowers and pictures and things. I paid the photographer and videographer directly for a little extra time the day of the wedding (the venue OKed that I do add ons directly through the vendors) and I have record of all that through emails. Other then that the only contract was the one that the venue had to cover everything. It says a number of hours that they will be there for and how many pictures I will get. I am worried about getting the venue involved right now because I am also having some very black and white breaches of contract from them which is also something I have no clue how to handle seeing as the day is done and they can't exactly fix it now. Everything that I'm finding is not showing a due date for the pictures or video. Everytime he told me anything about when I would get them it was all by phone. I would email him and he would call me back. I got married in February and that is the slow season for weddings. The photographer did not hide it in any way that after the wedding he went on a trip for a month and posted a bunch of pictures from the trip. A few days after my wedding he also posted about 3 pictures of me and my husband on his company Facebook. I thought I had to give permission for him to advertise with my wedding. And how is it he can fix up a few pictures to advertise his company with but can't give me the product I paid for.

I'm worried that if I am a pain to them or write a bad review then they will mess up my pictures. It was a unpluged destination wedding and without them I won't have any pictures of my wedding (other then the 3 he already posted online).

Send them each a certified letter saying that you expected your photos/video by now and asking that they get them to you by the end of the month.

No threats, no bad reviews, just keep it professional and unemotional.
