    Think of a theme -
rustic? Garden? Beach? Then go from there -

Budget— Then look at local (if planning local) for venues
Then everything else will start to fall into place

What ^ she said above plus think about the size of the guest list and make sure you can fit everyone you plan on inviting! You would hate to have to cut people from the list that you would really like to be there.

-Side note for questions to ask the venue when looking, make sure to also ask about what they do if the weather isn't the best or if it is raining what they would do. Would they get a cover or move the wedding inside?

    Good Luck!

Think of the weather. If you're having it outside while it's hot then supply water. If it's cold then think of shelter in case it rains. It have heating options

I agree the number one consideration for an outdoor wedding location is does it have a good "bad" weather plan B? For an outdoor wedding, "bad" weather can be: too hot, too cold, too rainy, too windy, too humid, too many bugs, and the list goes on and on. There are so many potential things that can make an outdoor wedding uncomfortable to downright dangerous. Yes, they can be absolutely gorgeous, but you don't want to be panicking the week of the wedding about a prediction of heavy rain or unseasonable heat. Daughter had a gorgeous outdoor wedding (in So Cal in January, so a little bit of a crap shoot), but she only considered venues that had an acceptable bad weather option. It POURED record breaking amounts Sunday through Thursday the week of her wedding. She was bummed, but not frantic because she knew we had a great rain plan. We were super lucky and the rain stopped Thursday night and we had gorgeous weather. At ceremony time on Saturday afternoon, it was 75 degrees and a little warmish on the patio. It then rained, hard, the next five Saturdays in a row, and her venue was posting pictures on social media of major flooding in their outdoor spaces.... You never know! So, along with time of year, number of guests, theme/vibe, etc., only consider options that have outdoor locations with acceptable bad weather options. Good luck!

I just had my dream wedding 100% outside last weekend. Weather was perfect. It was wonderful and our guests really enjoyed it. I was a little stressed about the weather leading up to it.

I agree with Future Mrs. A's post. First you need to decide on your theme.

Then, I would say think about if you want your ceremony and reception outside, if you want the ceremony outside and the reception indoors, if you want the ceremony and reception at the same location, etc.

After that, make your guest list so you have an idea of how many guests you will need your venue to accommodate. That will help more than you think when it comes to picking a venue!

After you have your venue nailed down, everything will start to fall into place Smiley smile
