Outdoor wedding - ceremony music??

Ariella, on April 9, 2013 at 9:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

So, my wedding is outside, and I'm trying to figure out how we're going to do the music. Should I hire a string quartet?? Somebody bring a boombox? lol, I'm all out of ideas. I am also on a pretty tight budget, half of it went to booking the venue, which I love. FH and I decided to pay for a country band so we can have a barn dance for the reception, so I'm not so sure about hiring more musicians. Any ideas or comments are welcome!! (And here's a photo of our venue).

Just curious if the ceremony is at the same place of the venue? If so, can you see how much your band will be to play a version of a song to your liking?

I know you said you're not sure about hiring more musicians, but a solo acoustic guitarist may not cost too much.

Not sure a country band will be able to play a nice song to walk down the aisle to but you could check! String quartets are lovely but cost some moolah...

Yes, we're having the ceremony outside, the moving into the barn for the reception. I don't know if the band could do both because they will probably be setting up their equipment in the barn. I think that we would want traditional music for the ceremony too.

Mrs. M, you might be on to something. I might be able to ask one of the band members to play on an acoustic guitar.

I was just going to suggest that you see if one of band would play - I know there is some beautiful music out there for acoustical guitars.

If you're considering music for your ceremony... don't forget a microphone for your officiant and you. Your guests will THANK you for it. There's nothing worse than sitting at a wedding and not being able to hear what's going on.

I am trying to find a singer/guitar player for my wedding - was hoping i could find family or friends that could do it. My sister will be singing during the ceremony, but I need a guitar to accompany here and someone who can also sing and play as we walk in.

Does your country band include a fiddle/violin? That could be nice for the ceremony.

"Our song" was by Restless Hearts -- "I'll Still Be Loving You."

Let me start with, I Love Love Love your venue!

Check with your officiant. I have a happie amp that I carry with me. It has the ability to hook up to music. Then the music stops and the officiant starts. It works great!

I know around here you can rent Dj equipment, which includes a microphone, speakers and iPod doc. It cost $150 for the full day. That is an option to look into. Good luck and congrats!!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Especially for reminding me about a microphone! I am lucky to have musical friends and I'll see if any of them want to play some music. My MOH has a beautiful voice and so does my brother so I think I'll see if they would like to perform a duet. Now to find the equipment lol

I agree with the acoustic guitar! Smiley smile it's very country-ish and would be a neat way to add a different flair on ceremony music Smiley smile

I like the idea of an acoustic guitar too Smiley smile I really love canon in d though (traditional version), but I'm quickly finding out that it's near impossible to have every little detail in your wedding you dreamed of when you were 16!
