Thanks to everyone who chimed in on my wedding cake flavor ideas! I am happy to say that my fiance and I have narrowed them down.
We are going to do a 3-tiered cake with: vanilla funfetti, red velvet, and lemon poppyseed. The cake will be consistent with vanilla buttercream throughout.
As for our side dessert, we had originally intended for there to be both cupcakes & donuts (my favorite), but because we are having a smaller wedding party/reception, we agreed that having both options might be overkill. Instead, we opted to just have chocolate salted caramel cupcakes. Because our cake itself will be more vanilla/light flavors, we wanted chocolate cupcakes as a good balance.
