"Our Story" Wedding Website Help

jnicollea, on September 5, 2017 at 6:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

I am in desperate need for help writing "our story" for our wedding website. My FH and I have been together for 5 years. We are high school sweet hearts. Here is a rundown of our relationship over the past five years.

• First met- August 2011

• First date- February 14, 2012

• Officailly Official- May 13, 2012

• Utah Bound- August 14, 2015

• He popped the question- June 24, 2016

• Happily ever after- August 18, 2018

I don't like how it looks in bullet points on our website, so I want to put this into paragraph-worded form. Does anyone have any suggestions or examples of their story?

Thank you!

I would sit down with your FH to write this. Or I would write a draft with him and then send it to someone who knows you both and loves you both to help edit it. This isn't really the kind of thing a stranger on the internet can help you write! But there is no right or wrong on this sort of thing! Just write it honestly and from the heart your family will enjoy reading it either way!

I hate to give the reality check here but not many people will actually read it. They go on the website to cheek for wedding details & registry info.

Yeah I skipped that part on ours. I only have hotel information, wedding day info, and RSVPs. If you're invited to our wedding, you already know our story. No need to write it out for anyone.

Personally, if I'm reading your "story" I don't want bullet points with dates, because that means nothing to me. I want to know how you met, how you fell in love, that type. Not a two year timeline.

I don't think I've ever cared enough to read someone's story.

    - they met

    - maybe/probably had sex

    - fell in love

    - got engaged

    - lived happily ever after

Honestly, there's no need to go crazy. Just put the info that people need to know.

When I set-up the WW, I had a few sentences about my daughter's and her FH's story.....at least, the story they had told us. Seriously, maybe 3-4 sentences. And they've been together almost 12 years.

After the STDs go out, she sends me a 2 volume novel, in a text. I re-keyed it into a Word doc, just so that I could edit and spell-check it. But it's now up on the website. 'Cause I love my kid.

I just skipped this - most people know "our story." My wedding website is strictly info related to the wedding and some e-pics
