Our marriage, their wedding

Lol My manager at work told her family that they didnt have a date set yet......she planned the wedding herself and sent out invites weeks later..

Ahaha genius!! Thankfully, since we're paying for everything nobody gets to butt in haha

Yea my FH and i are saving up as IF we are paying for it. My father said he will pay but we will see

OMG I NEED to see this movie!!! My dad is paying for the reception and you would think the whole day is HIS day.

He wanted me to have the "big wedding", I wanted to elope. He invited at least 8 of his friends and their wives, half which i DON'T know. And the other day when we were at the meeting with the reception venue going over the food, linens, cake, everything....he was sitting there making a list of who is going to sitting at HIS table with him. I just looked at the lady and I said to her "I'm sorry, I forgot it's HIS day" as i patted him on the back.

My mom has for the most part been helpful but keeps chiming in how I should send invitations to so&so etc etc, basically cousins that I haven't spoken to since I was a child! She says they always send announcements to her about babies and weddings etc. Well those announcements are going to her not me. And I can't send them an invitation just as a courtesy to announce to them "By the way we haven't spoken in years but I'm getting married..." because I have to be prepared for them to possibly accept that invitation and we have a budget and only room in that budget for a limited amount of guests.

Lol That maybe how my dad will be !!

My mom and I do NOT get along, and I knew she'd go nuts trying to plan my day. So, we just told her on Monday.

My dad has paid for the bulk of our stuff, but he's on board with the "it's your day, not your mother's, so make your own choices". We did leave a few things for her to take over, such as making the hanger for the dress & the ring pillows (she LOVES to sew). But those were small things to me.

OMG Yes!! I've been wanting to see this movie too. My mom and Stepdad offered to help us pay for part of the wedding because they don't think we can save all the money needed ourselves, but ever since we accepted the offer it has just been a PIA ... they want a say in everything and don't think my FH's parents should be a part of the planning at all. It's been a constant struggle for me to try and make everyone happy. And on top of that any time I try to not have them be a part of the planning they threaten to back out of helping us. (ex: my FH wants just me and him at the tasting and when I told my mom she got all offended and said if we didn't want their help to just say so and basically implied she would not pay for anything if we didn't allow her and my stepdad to go to the tasting with us because they are paying for half of the reception) ... needless to say my mom is VERY controlling, especially when it comes to me and now my wedding.

Luckily, my family is not your "TRADITIONAL"Mexican family lol! That movie reminded me of my MOH's wedding. Her mother is outta control! She totally took over, the bride literally had NO say so! My mom was told from the beginning "Just because you are paying half the bill, doesn't mean you can take over"!
