Our coordinator/contact for our wedding catering left...

Sigh...first wedding stress in a while.

I had really clicked with our coordinator from the catering company. We are planning our wedding from across the country so have put a lot of trust in our wedding planner and catering coordinator. We literally just landed in California a few hours ago for our tasting on Monday and received an email that the catering coordinator is no longer with the company as of yesterday. We were emailing our specifics with her until yesterday. The catering company is handling our food, alcohol and our chair/tableware rentals. Her replacement manager email me is yesterday telling us not worry and she will take care of us. I’m not sure she has the vision that my FH and I have as we have been communicating with the other lady for 5 months! Plus our catering bill will end up being around $50-60k, half of which we paid already...

My wedding planner says she has worked with the replacement manager before, but I’m still very disappointed regarding the last minute news. But I guess there is not much I can do but hope the tasting and feel of the dinner will still be the same. Smiley sad

Take a deep breath. These people do this all the time. Share everything with this new person that you shared with the last one and I’m sure it will be fine. Don’t worry until it’s time to worry....that’s my motto. Good luck.

Daughter was lucky that none of her vendors changed while she was planning, but based on posts on this forum, I think this is very common. There is a lot of turnover in wedding-related vendors. All you can do now is trust that the company has made a good choice in the replacement and keep an open mind. I'd agree it's likely that you'll have to back track some to make sure all the details are understood by the new coordinator. Based on your budget, I'd assume you're working with a fairly high-end venue/vendor that has a reputation to maintain/protect. Odds are they are very experienced at what they do, and will try to make the transition as easy on you as possible. If you have concerns, I'd raise them directly & tactfully with your new coordinator, and if that doesn't seem to work, go above them in the company management structure. It's a bummer, but hopefully it will all work out. Welcome to California! Smiley heart

This happens a lot. It’ll be ok. We lost ours too midway through planning and our wedding was spectacular.

The good news is that you've got the tasting in front of you, so you can make a connection and any adjustments in real time with the new contact. Hang in there girl, and with your budget it sounds like it will be a beautiful, amazing party!

Thank you for your comments ladies. It’s true we still have time and at least it is before the tasting. I’ll make sure that everything we discussed prior will be available at the tasting.

We clicked with our venue contact, our lead caterer, and our rentals contact.... and they have now ALL left and been replaced by new people. So frustrating.
