Opinions on Foreign Spouse Wedding

My husband and I are long distance, and in the middle of his immigration process. We had a wedding in his country Pakistan for his family. I let them decide mostly everything because of cultural reasons, and only my mother attended the wedding since my other family members are not comfortable. My family has talked about when he comes, we will do a party for the wedding. My family has not sent any gifts because they are waiting for us to send out invites for a wedding in the US. Would it be rude to have a bridal shower once we have figured out dates and set up a wedding?
