Is anyone doing this ? How are you wording the invites ? How did you invite the people who are welcomed to the wedding but didn't make the cut for the reception? Did you receive any "negative vibes" from those not invited to the reception ? How do you avoid the "un-invited" from just following the...

Is anyone doing this ? How are you wording the invites ? How did you invite the people who are welcomed to the wedding but didn't make the cut for the reception? Did you receive any "negative vibes" from those not invited to the reception ? How do you avoid the "un-invited" from just following the procession to the reception site ?? Ask you can see, I'm struggling w/this issue lol.

Let me add some clarification, too.

Church members that find out about it from a church bulletin, no problem.

Neighbors who find out about it because you tell them "Hey, I'm getting married, you should come", problem. That's still an invite.

Other than church members (and don't tell them about it yourself, I can't stress the church bulletin enough), don't invite by email, FB, or word of mouth anyone that you don't plan on inviting to the reception.

And yes, we do keep it to the point around here. Not to be mean, but to save you the world of trouble you could find yourself in due to such a situation.

I honestly wouldn't bother with the church bulletin invitation unless it's customary in your church to do this with most weddings.

Have you ever personally attended a ceremony and knew that you were not invited to the reception part?

If there is a custom at your specific church, follow it. If this isn't something that's done frequently, I wouldn't go through the hassle of navigating through all of the problems that will come up. Unless this is a custom followed every weekend by all the couples getting married at the church before you, a ton of people will try to invite themselves to the reception, it's inevitable.

I am having my wedding at a small chapel. Can only have 35 guests. I'm inviting only family and very closed friends to ceremony. Everyone else will be invited to the reception.

I’m glad I found this cause I was having the same problem....all my coworkers want an invite to my wedding and all my friends from college and I’m a nice person so I’m like I’ll think about it but I’m on a budget and the more I say I want a small wedding the more people I notice wanna come 😭
