Only 2 mismatched bridesmaids?

vicky, on May 4, 2013 at 8:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

The mismatched thing is convenient for obvious reasons & the pics I've seen on Pinterest are cute but they all include at least 4 bridesmaids. I'm having my 2 sisters only & they don't seem to agree on dress type, length, material, color etc. I like blush pink or champagne & chiffon bc it will be May & I'm looking at lace dresses but they think chiffon isn't flattering & the colors will make them look washed out. (They both are tan, skinny Greek girls who I think look good in everything so idk what they're talking about- weirdos) but they are acting like I want them to look bad.

Do I just give up & let them pick w/e they want so they can wear it again? I wanted something formal but they think a long dress will be uncomfortable for Memorial Day weekend.

Will mismatched dresses for just 2 girls look weird if I ask for a spring color? Am I being a bridezilla?

I think it might look a little weird for two girls, but maybe you can tie it all together with the same necklace or something.

I'm only having three girls, and they are all in the same color, same fabric...but I let them choose the style of their own dress. It looks great, I think. Stand your ground. If you want them in blush, tell them blush. Don't let them run you over. My best friend HATES green, but said, "Morgs, it's your wedding day, so I will wear whatever you ask me to." And she's wearing green!! Sounds to me like THEY are being Maidzillas!!

Lol maybe it's just a sister thing that creates this problem. I will try to stand my ground on at least one unifying factor & I also like the accessory idea (as a 2nd item). Thanks ladies Smiley smile

I'm having my sister, his sister, and my BFF in my wedding. My sister has been the most problematic. So maybe it IS a sister thing. We all went out to look at dresses, and she bailed at the last minute, so the other two decided on short dresses in chiffon. So I told sis that's what she needed to pick out. She started emailing me long dresses in satin and stuff. I am like "WTF? NO! I've given you a description. There are 10 dresses to pick from. Just pick one of these!" I'm a little more blunt, so I have no issue telling her what's up, but I understand you completely! I think she's just being a pain on purpose.

I hope they work it out. Just remember it's your day and don't let anyone change your vision.

I would say different is ok if they are in the same color, fabric, and length. I also discovered that Chiffon looks great in pictures and on models but not on real women.

I have 3 in my bridal party. MOH is best friend, FSIL is bm, and my daughter is jr. bm. I am asking my MOH to wear dark purple, BM to wear light blue, and I am going to put my daughter in a light blue dress with purple trim. I am also going to have their bouquets be opposite color of their dress with my daughter having both colors in hers. I figure this way all of the colors tie together and they can still be comfy and everybody is happy. I gave them their color, fabric, and told them at least knee length. The rest is up to them.

I think as long as the dresses are the same length and color the mismatched should be fine....At least that's what I'm hoping for myself lol! I have two girls on my side who I intend on putting in different dresses.

@ OP: Spring colors are my colors. I only have three BMs and I am not concerned with them matching each other. I DO care about how much they spend (I recently had to step out of a wedding because the bride wanted us to buy a 400 dress on short notice...that we'd never seen before....AAAaaanyways).

I sent my girls to littleborroweddress.com. It's not a chinese knock-off site. It's closer to Rent the Runway. They have really pretty spring colors and the girls can rent them for 50 bucks.

disclaimer (if needed): Dudes. I work for a hospital. I just like the dresses.

I love chiffon! And blush and champagne. Those are flattering colors, and I actually think chiffon is way more flattering than shiny satin. I'd let them go mismatched.

That actually sounds like a great idea. I considered rent the runway but I think renting a dress for $100 is pointless since theres plenty of nice dresses they could buy for the same price. I just was worried 2 girls mismatched would make them stick out or look like guests. I love all the ideas the posters have given tho. Thank you!!

Lol & shannon I really love that disclaimer

I have 4 girls, my sister is MOH and then my 3 nieces, different ages youngest 13 and the oldest 49 so I decided to let them all pick their own style, they voted whether long or short, long won and I ask for them all to be all the same color and fabric, they all picked dresses out and I'm very pleased with them
