Online order dress needs pressing

Ivy ORP, on August 7, 2019 at 4:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I ordered my dress online and I am just beyond thrilled with it. I don't even think I'll need alterations because I had it made for my measurements and added a couple of alterations already. My problem is that because it was shipped it is a bit wrinkly. Something I expected but now I need to get it pressed. The dress is all tulle with a satin lining. I obviously can't take it to the place I purchased it and my FW is super nervous about taking it to something like a cleaners, but isn't that what they do? Any brides out there had this dilemma? What did you do? I don't want to buy an expensive steamer for one day.

I bought mine online and it was wrinkled too. I took it to a dry cleaner and they steamed it out.

Any dry cleaner should be able to just steam it for you and it will look great.

That's what I wanted to do but she said it made her nervous. I'll just read the reviews and find one that will work for us. Thank you.

I have this steamer and use it all the time because I hate ironing and it works really well and gentle on all my clothes. I'm not sure what your budget is, but it might be a good investment if you'll use it again and again. I hate taking my stuff to the dry cleaners, too, because that means I would have to talk...

Sometimes you can run the shower hot and hang the dress in the bathroom to get steamed and it'll release the wrinkles. You can try that to reduce your wives worries but after that you'd likely need a dry cleaner

I had a sample dress shipped to me too and it fit perfectly, no alterations needed but was wrinkly. The dry cleaner pressed/ steamed it for me for $25! It was beautiful. My dress was satin lining and lace, mermaid style.

If you don’t want to go to a dry cleaners, try finding an independent seamstress. They’ll be able to steam it for you. I personally would not want to do any more than spot steaming the day of because wrinkles from shipping can be hard to get out, and I most certainly wouldn’t know how to do it right!
