One wedding band or two?!

Megan, on December 10, 2016 at 8:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

I took my rings to get inspected and cleaned today. While I was there I was looking and thought maybe we should get a second band. FH says I need to decide so we can get that out of the way now instead of closer to the wedding. Opinions?

My ring is the infinity band like yours and I'm planning to have two bands. One on either side.

I actually went with three. The set and then got an extra one (different) which I'll get sauntered after the wedding.

I like 2 bands with engagement ring the best. I think that extra ring makes all the difference

Honestly, having 2 wedding bands is just a way to wear more diamonds lol. Don't paint it as anything but! My husband was not going to let me buy 2 wedding bands, that's very frivolous.

I always thought the second band was a major anniversary gift to celebrate years of being together. I didn't know it was a thing to get one right away until coming on here.

UO I guess: I don't see why women feel the need to get a second band. Just to make it symmetrical? That's silly.

I can see adding an "anniversary" band down the road, but one wedding=one band. It looks perfectly fine that way.

I'm with MrsSkiToBe. I always thought the second wedding band was for like 5 year anniversaries and you only had engagement and one wedding band after your wedding. Maybe it's a thing that's becoming more and more popular

Yeah I'm with the ladies on the second wedding being for anniversaries.

It's just so much bling at once for a newlywed!

Not knocking double bands in anyway, they are definitely gorgeous, just unnecessary so soon IMO

I think that the entire point of a band is to indicate that you are married, visually. I think that an enhancer/two identical bands makes it look like you just have a bigger ring rather than being married.

I very much dislike the messy look of multiple bands in different styles.

That said---I couldn't care less what anyone else does as long as they're happy with what they have. That's just my personal preference and my reasoning.

Thank you for all your opinions! I like the idea of doing it for an anniversary down the road instead of so soon!

I think it looks great! I have a gold diamond solitare ring. Anyways, I am getting two plain gold bands... one to go on top and one underneath. I LOVE it! Two rings don't always have to be diamond rings too! Regardless... your ring is beautiful and it always will be cause it is yours!

To me, your set looks great the way it is. I wouldn't add another band.

I have the same type of ring and the same dilemma. I'd like symmetry but also want something that has a hard edge for a clean look. I'm thinking that it would be good to do two bands now because I'm too pragmatic and am unlikely to get anything 5 years later.

If you want two I say go for it! I wasn't familiar with the anniversary tradition before but but since it's not my tradition, I don't have to follow it.

I'll post below and would love to hear your thoughts.
