One Night Affair wedding dress rentals

Sheila, on August 29, 2011 at 11:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

If you rented your wedding dress from One Night Affair in LA can you please tell me what your experience was? Especially if you were a very petite bride. I know the dress that I pick out is the EXACT dress that I will be wearing but I'm worried that when they alter a size 8 dress into a size zero (without taking away any fabric) that it'll look very bulky. OF course they all assure me it'll be fine but I'd fel better hearing someone's real experience.

I already put my deposit down and won't get it back and I'm debating on just buying a new dress. Please help!

...That's like ten inches of fabric that would be tucked nowhere? What does the dress look like? I really don't altering a dress that small is impossible while keeping the same look(even with cutting away fabric)

I don't have any exuberance with rentals, but it sounds like it's something that can only work well for average sized girls.

If i were you I would start stalking http://www.oncewed.com/ and www.recycledbride.com for a good priced dress. also David's bridal will marking alot of dresses down soon.

Here's a pic of the dress. A lot of fabric to try and hide, and about a foot or more of fabric from the bottom! I'm only 5 ft tall =/

I don't have any experience renting dresses, but I do agree that taking in and hemming a dress that much could not possibly look good. Are you sure they don't have a smaller dress they'll be taking in?

    If not, I wouldn't do it :/

I wouldn't do it. Go get yourself a dress that can be altered to fit your size the right way. Just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I actually love the rental idea - makes so much more sense - but it is important that your dress fits right. If you can find a rental that fits you well, great. If not...maybe look into 2nd hand? (Some 2nd hand dresses have never been worn, if the bride changed her mind.)
