So our wedding is on a Tuesday. We understand that everyone wont be taking off for our wedding (and honestly that was kinda the point, lol). My question is, what is a respectable time for the ceremony? I was thinking 7 considering our venue is literally DOWNTOWN DC. and we dance until 11 (or...

Thoughts ladies? If you were invited to a Tuesday evening event with a 9-5 what time would be comfortable for you?

7-11 on a work night sounds awful. I'd probably leave by 9 to ensure I could get back home in time. I need my sleep! Lol

I would take the day off. But you ARE downtown D.C. So taking commuter traffic into account is very important! 7 seems perfect depending on the average age of your crowd.

Because your wedding is on a Tuesday, 7:00 sounds like the earliest you should have it.

Well I'm perfectly fine turning up to work hungover any day of the week.

I don't think OP is really concerned about attendance... " We understand that everyone wont be taking off for our wedding (and honestly that was kinda the point, lol). "

This honestly sounds gift-grabby to me- like you're purposely holding your wedding on an inconvenient day so you can invite more guests knowing they won't come, but will probably send a gift anyway.

Not saying this is the case for everyone who has a weekday wedding, this is just how your particular post sounded to me.

I wouldn't be attending a wedding or any event on a Tuesday. I realize my wedding being on a Friday could cause some issues for people but at least they won't have to be at work the next day.

In DC I would say 7:30 or 8

When I worked in Arlington I'd get off at 5:30 get home at 6 and then I'd want 30 minutes to change (that makes it 6:30) and drive back into the city and park would be another 30 minutes so 7 would be barely making it

I think if you did 7:30 you wouldn't lose much time and might make it easier on your guests

    Thanks everyone!

Also, @Sos0033 just an FYI - we're actually asking guests NOT to give gifts because we don't need them. Our gift is their willingness to attend our ceremony and reception. There's no registry and there wont be showers requesting gifts. MY gift is the man of my dreams and he will say the same. Our guests mean the world to us (hence us not having a HUGE wedding and only inviting a small number of guests)...but why am I even explaining this. Thanks for your opinions. Smiley smile

Anywho, we went with a 7P ceremony. I appreciate everyone's input.
