OMG I hate my invitations ... :'(

maria, on June 17, 2011 at 10:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

I ordered off Zazzle.com and they looked pretty good when I ordered them ... well they came in today and I HATE them. First of all, that pink "ribbon" isn't even a freakin REAL ribbon!!! Uggghhhh- it looks so cheesy!!!! And secondly- the RSVP size is like on steroids!!!!!!! It's like the size of a postcard!!! WTH??!?!? I just wanna throw them out ... they weren't super expensive about $90. I am so close to RE-ORDERING ALL over and not from zazzle.com if not- I am thinking of hot glue a REAL ribbon on it to try to save these invites ... Smiley sad Smiley sad

It's hard to tell what the ribbon looks like, it looks fine in the photo. I love love love the damask style pattern (our bedroom is damask lol). Does it go with your wedding theme/decoration? I think they're nice!

Think of the more important things - NOT hating your dress, photos, food, etc!

I don't think they're bad. The ribbon not being real would probably bother me too, but I wouldn't expect to have real ribbon for only $90. I don't think I would add a ribbon over it though... that could get messy and look equally as "cheesy" when all is said & done.

My vote: keep them & mail them out. Invites aren't everything, and they end up in the trash most of the time anyway.

& if you must re-do them, here's an ida: mine were plain, DIY from Michaels and very cheap. I spent $80 on 120 invites, thank you cards, and response cards. I like them, maybe they'd work for you too?

Yes my wedding colors are magenta and black. And damask print on my table runner, cardbox etc. Even in this pic the ribbon looks real, lol. I think the ribbon was the big disappointment to me ...

Ashley- I was orginally going to do the ones from Michaels and I loved them but I heard it's VERY time consuming having to feed the invitations into the printer and also I don't have a great printer as it is. Some were saying "laser jet" printer... I'm just not happy ...

I agree i cant even tell the ribbon isnt real in the pic and i can see how that could be a disappointment but they are still really pretty. I say keep them esp cause they do match your theme. Just take a deep breath! As someone else stated think of the other BIG parts of your day and how much you love them Smiley smile

Most places suggest that you purchase a sample first! Sorry they arent what you wanted!

Oh yeah- I started to do it myself, said forget it after the third invite, and called a local printing shop. I paid $14 to have everything printed (120 invites & 120 response cards), so it really wasn't that bad at all.

I think you should do what makes you happy, and if that means spending another $90, then that isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. At the same time though, realize invitations aren't everything. As said before, focus on the things you love: your groom, your venue(s), your dress, etc. Smiley smile

I think they are very nice. If anything, I would try to glue on little bows. I think that would be a cute touch and nobody would know the difference. Save the extra money and put it towards something else.

I like Tiffany's idea. I think a little bow in the middle would be cute!

I actually think these are cute. I know when you have your heart set on something, and you get something else, it doesn't feel like its "all right." I'm so sorry you were disappointed with these. Those ribbons really do look real in the photo. But for $90, you got a good deal compared to what invites go for.

Thank you for all your replies and support. I think I will try adding a ribbon to one and if at all it looks crappy then I dunno what I'm gonna do LOL ...

I can definitely understand why you would be upset about the ribbon... it looks like its real! I would probably contact their customer service about it and see if maybe they can give you at least a partial refund... or maybe they would be willing to send you new ones without the printed pink ribbon and you could add your own? Otherwise I think they look great! The RSVP looks like the normal size to me! Also, one thing to remember.. any real bows will add to postage so maybe it was a blessing in disguise that it was printed on?

I think they are very pretty.

Sucks that the ribbon part is the only thing throwing you off from liking them.

It does look real in the pics.

But ... if you are really not happy and have the money to do so, then order new invites.

If not, the fake printed on ribbon really isnt that bad =)

And like cew2 said - a real ribbon will add to the postage.

Not to mention, make the enveople bulky.

I think they're really pretty!! But if you are willing to spend more money for another invitations then you should do what makes you happy. However, remember that most people throw them out =( (Unfortunately) Except from parents and grandparents lol.
