OK for country club wedding?

Bride2Be2018, on September 3, 2017 at 4:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Is this dressy enough to wear as a guest for a country club wedding if I wear nice jewelry/shoes? I wanted to find a long dress for weather but it's not a black tie wedding... I live in Florida and have a wedding in Canada next weekend and am going freeze my bootay off at night in low of 40s. TIA

I think it can be dressy enough! I actually attended a wedding in october in Massachussettes that was FREEZING but I chose a long sleeved short dress since my arms get much colder than my legs. It is SO hard to find dressy wedding guest dresses for the colder months! Also I firmly believe pearls make everything dressier!

OK thanks! I'll dress it up with jewelry! It really is hard to find the right dress...especially without it being black tie I feel a more formal gown would make me too overdressedSmiley smile

Imho it seems a little too casual for a country club. I would find a nicer material with a nice sweater.

"Country club" can be just about anything. I grew up in a small, rural area and the local country club was public and typically filled with a dozen people in jeans and tee shirts drinking beer. On the other end, there are private country clubs with six or seven figure buy ins where anything but a couture gown would look shockingly out of place. Can you look up the venue and see what people typically wear there?

If it's on the fancier end, I'd probably go for a different dress. This one is beautiful and looks awesome on you, but the ruching at the top makes it look less formal and more beachy.

We have indoor heating in Canada. In my province we have had a record summer of high temperatures and no rain, that is predicted to last through September.

Yes that is absolutely ok for a country club wedding. You do not need to find nicer material!

@Muriel the lows are 40 right now for next weekend in London not sure where you're at!! Also everything is relative..my family comes down to Florida to visit and wears shorts and flip flops when we are in jackets..haha it's pathetic(our inability to handle cold weather).Lol also I know there is indoor heating I've been a million times to visit my family but also know how freakin freezing we get when we visit.

@StPaulGal I have actually been to this country club for the brides sisters wedding about 5 years ago and it's an in between if that makes sense. There was nobody wearing couture gowns that would have been awkward. I live in South Florida where everybody is really flashy and I feel like the whole scene up in the area where my family is is just more subdued. It's in London Ontario.

    That's a casual dress IMO.

Do you have a cocktail dress? If yes, pair it with dark stockings and you will be just as warm and more dressed up.

What time is the wedding? It depends more on that than the venue because it can vary so much

I always throw a pair of leggings under my dresses, skirts, and even sweat pants during the cold months. No one ever sees them, and it keeps you 10x warmer

The weather for London is predicted to be 19 (66) during the day and 10(50) at night so not as bad as you are dreading. Plus with the humidity it will feel warmer by about 3 degrees C.

@Muriel where do you live? If you live in South Florida 50 degrees at night is flippin freezing!!

ETA: It never feels humid in Ontario to me. Ever. Other than Thailand I have never felt humidity. It's all relative like I said.
