I click on the forums, I find latest discussions, which are all literally the same, like it never refreshes, and then I click see more, and I get like 5 more that are all the same, but if I click "Discussions" on top of a thread, I get BRAND NEW topics. At first I didn't think I'd be so bothered, but its impossible to even LURK. I need to see the Lady/Man/Person in charge. Can I call them? Do they have an email?

That could work, or if you had, Moderator 1, Moderator 2, etc. Websleuths has that and that is exactly what they do. And, they only do it for TOS (or CG) violations.

And mods may also edit titles of discussions, and they can't leave notes in there or else titles would look totally ridiculous, but titles will only be edited to add clarity (so we don't have 80000 "Help!" threads

But do you see how, if you answer questions and don't just shut down threads, conversations CAN happen? Do I like the CGs? No. But if you guys could just explain and give some warning, people would be much more accepting. We are just seeing sudden changes and threads closing left and right for what, we don't even know.

Oh, for sure they'd only edit someone's post for a CG vio! Sorry about that, and thanks for talking it through with me. I'll get the change made and passed along to the team

I got an email stating I was quoted in a discussion. Clicked on it to see what that means and poof "Oh, cake balls!" Looks like something went wrong. The page you're looking for isn't here.

Try typing it again or go back to the homepage.

If mods edit titles, maybe put a comment or send the user a messge, "Your thread title was changed to ______. Here is a link to your thread" I know this is making a ton of work for you, but I feel like if you treat the users like clients, since they are, maybe they would be more understanding. Like I said, we are just seeing things change, with almost no explanation.

Hey WWJo, why are you guys locking threads that are not violations? Is WW Laura no longer the night mod??

That sounds to me like you were quoted in a thread but the thread, or maybe the comment, was removed before you got back to it. That would have made the link break

That's totally fair. Once we get everything working right and can get our heads a bit more above water we may be able to email whenever we do this. For now, with SO MUCH going on, I think we'd be slow to get those emails sent, but leaving a comment right on the post is certainly something we could do, I think that could be a workable compromise for the time being. You need an explanation, and you need it quickly or else it just won't make sense, so I think that's the best way for us to do that

That would depend on the thread you mean. My guess is it was locked because it was a question or feedback about the forums and we didn't want it to spiral, so we tried to give an answer and then lock it. I think it'll be better if we have one central place to get all questions together - having them so spread out is probably (no, it's absolutely) why you guys are feeling like you're being ignored. I cant do much more tonight but let me strategize

And WWLaura is never going anywhere! I love her and I need her!! #WWLauraForPresident. Her username is now just Laura, and she'll be around soon

Thank you Jo for your feedback and responses today!

Letting people know the thread is being locked and why would be a huge help. Can you guys do something to clarify violation posts? It’s super vague right now and I know there’s a lot of people, myself included who are confused as to what violated the CG’s

Not liking the new organization of the forums at all - very random flashing of thread titles at the top, then a banner of the different topics - makes no sense. Then you get into "view discussions" and it breaks categories into "Latest discussions posted" (which i take as most recent new thread, not most recently commented thread) and "Most Popular discussions" (which appear to have the most comments, but haven't had someone comment on in hours - so instead of letting a thread die - it sits there until someone ELSE comments on it and bumps it up there - and it doesn't help that they have not popular ideas as their titles[dry wedding, self catering, firing bridesmaids]) - not really an effective way to keep conversations going as you have to pick one OR the other - you can't just view whats been commented on chronologically anymore. makes NO sense.

ALSO there is no more new user or CG sticky - I had to use the search feature to find it - how are we supposed to reference it going forward? either save the URL or search every time? way too much effort.

We're trying as fast as our little fingers can answer!

Yes, we should always try to post a final comment that explains why a thread is being locked before we lock it, totally makes sense. I'll have less luck in finding a quick fix for the violation posts as those are part of this system - basically on one side we have those, which are fast (immediate actually) but impersonal, and you have personal emails from us that give clarity and answer questions, but those are crazy slow especially this week! It's a really hard balancing act. I know explaining that doesn't solve anything, but I hope it makes some of these disconnects make a bit more sense at least

Smiley cry I'm sorry you feel that way, and I sympathize. I hope if you can give us some time to get ourselves sorted out and some of the kinks worked through and it'll be a lot less confusing, but I can understand why you'd feel that way.

Haha, yeah, I totally remember the first time I was showed the new layout and i got SOOOOOOO lost!

So the flashy things on the first page, just ignore those. They are random, just to give some inspiration in what's been posted about lately. It literally is random!

"Latest discussions posted" - you're right, newest ones

"Most Popular discussions" right again, those have the most comments regardless of their topics or titles or anything else. We like that stuff is bumpable now, so we all don't have to keep answering the same questions over and over and over, and so that when you spend a long time writing out one really awesome answer it doesn't disappear into internet nothingness after a week.

One trick around this is within each group (category) you have a lot of ways to filter those discussions, there is a toggle on the right to reorder them.

Smiley star For Jo for finally giving us some clarity! Hopefully there may be able to be some amendments to allow vendors (maybe under their personal email if they choose to participate again) back so we can continue getting great advice.

ETA there is a CG thread, it's in Community Conversations. We all need to get used to actually having a working search feature!!

Seriously Jo, you’ve been great at answering questions today. I know you guys are getting bombarded and I for one appreciate you making an effort to answer us as we try to figure this stuff out.

to be honest, a lot of prior users feel like this is a way of getting rid of us, as the punishments are strict and immediate, with no warning, or super vague warnings
