Oily skin problems

TiAna, on May 11, 2017 at 3:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well& are as stress free as possible(:

So my skin is very oily and I've yet to find a primer and foundation to combat the oiliness. Does anyone have any recommendations for primers and foundation? I've used the Maybelline matte poreless foundation, becca& makeup forever step 1, as well as a setting spray. I also "bake" but I still have problems. I prefer full coverage also. I'd love to test out some combos so I know what works on the day of and well after. Thanks in advance!(:

Are you planning on using a MUA? They will be able to trial run and make sure their products work for you.

You could also go to Sephora and ask for samples of primers, and test them on your own before commuting to a full size product.

Lastly, see a dermatologist- You have plenty of time before your wedding to address skin issues!

What kind of moisturizer do you use? Is it a water base or oil base? Are you using oil free foundation? I also have oily skin, but I use Tarte H2O moisturizer every night with a drop of maracuja oil and it helps. I have also started using a couple of products from Lush and they are working so so well for my skin and combating the oil. I'll put links down below. A lot of oily skin problems can be solved with a great skin care routine.

I wear Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + as my everyday foundation and it's the best I've found for not getting shiny halfway through the day, and it's pretty full coverage. Link: http://www.sephora.com/mat-velvet-matifying-foundation-P177117?skuId=988634&icid2=products%20grid:p177117

My MUA did airbrush makeup on my wedding day, and my skin was perfect all day/night at my outdoor Louisiana wedding.

What's your skincare routine consist of? Are you using the correct products to cleanse, tone and moisturize your face every day? Do you use a mask, and exfoliate at least once a week?

I use the too faced hangover primer and Kat Von D lock it full coverage foundation and it's the only thing that works for my oily skin. I've also heard good things about urban decay naked foundation but I haven't been able to try it because the lightest shade is still too dark for me

Estee Lauder Double Wear makeup!!!! Matte finish. 12hr long wear. Oil free. No sunscreen=no flashback in photos!!!!! They also have a primer you can get that keeps your face matte too. If you go to any Estee Lauder counter they can color match you and give you a sample to take home to try. For day of, if you dont want to actually buy the foundation, just go in and get another sample. I used to work for Lauder and we ALWAYS had brides come in for makeup!

I second @Stephanie on Estee Lauder double wear; specifically, the foundation (because I haven't tried anything else yet, but I'm sure I will!)

I'm so oily! I just heard of a trick: put your skincare on (moisturizers [I use Soap and Glory The Fab Pore], serums, eye creams, etc), then a primer (I use the Bare Minerals BB Primer Cream with spf), and then setting powder. Yes - setting powder BEFORE liquid foundation. I use a loose powder by CoverGirl and then the Laura Mercier Oil Free Silk Creme foundation. Then set again with your powder. I use the Wet n Wild photo focus setting spray. I don't get oily at all throughout the day when I usually get oily after two to three hours.

@AK no, I plan on doing my makeup myself, I know I have plenty of time before my wedding to worry about it but I'd like to test out some not only for my wedding but in general, but thank you for that recommendation!(:

@StephanieK I've heard about that foundation! Do they have a broad shade range?

@Chelsey thank you for the links I'll check it out!

Thank you everyone really for your recommendations. I'll definitely test them out!(:

@APD honestly the only moisturizer I've used is the clean and clear moisturizing lotion. Thank you for listing those links(:

First, I have to tell you about raw African black soap because it's a life saver! I had ridiculously oily skin until I started using it on a regular basis. You have to order it online but, it's worth it! Now, the primer that I use is Smashbox photo finish oil free. The foundation I use is MAC Pro Longwear. I also always set my makeup with Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. Any other makeup or products make my makeup run about half way through the day. I don't have that problem now that I'm using the soap that I do & these products! Good luck! ETA - I wanted to add that the setting spray helps tremendously & that MAC will give you free samples at any of their counters.

The thing that helped clear up my face was getting on the pill.

Other than that, start eating organic and cut out junk food. I've been doing that a little at a time and my face doesn't break out or get as oily nearly as bad as it used to.

I changed my face washing routine first! I use the 3 step Clinique for oily skin. After that I started to use either Clinique superbalanced foundation or tarte clay. Both foundations are amazing and have had a hugeeee help for my oily skin. I also use the tarte primer. Throughout the day I keep a blotting pad and MAC translucent powder for touch ups.

Is there a specific brand on amazon that is best? I'd love to try that I've heard sooo much about it. @Mrs.Sitzman

I tend to get an oily t-zone. I've been using the Jessica Alba Honest Invisible Blurring setting powder from Target and it's fantastic! I put it on after all my makeup and no oiliness for 10 hours. It's a little chilly here so that helps but I'll update once it gets hot and gross here in the mid-atlantic again.

Don't use any moisturizer that has the word lotion in it. That is oil based. Use something that is water based. You need to start with your skin care and not your foundation. I highly suggest hiring a MUA for your wedding. By the time you buy the makeup you need and spend the time stressing over it on your wedding day it's well worth the expense.
