Officially asked my bridesmaid to be in wedding

Anna, on July 6, 2019 at 7:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Okay so I just hosted a brunch for my girls. Some things I learned. Need to brush up on my public speaking skills. I rehearsed a little speech 20x before I left the house and I was so nervous that I forgot most of it and literally drew a blank. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 Also, I looked super tense in some pictures probably from literal stress about today and the heat and not enough alcohol. Hopefully I look more relaxed in the engagement pics. Any suggestions? I’m afraid my fiancé and I will end up looking too stiff and awkward. We aren’t used to posing for a million pics and so much attention.

I'm sure you did fine. People make such a big deal about asking bridesmaids and I think it puts more stress on you than it needs to. These are your friends. I am sure they were happy regardless of you feeling nervous.

For engagement pictures focus on each other and not the camera. One of the photographers I spoke with said he gives the couple a game to play or just something fun and silly to talk about so they have something to occupy their thoughts and aren’t freaking out about being photographed. Find a photographer whose work you love and trust them to direct you. I’m sure your photographs will turn out beautiful- don’t stress and don’t put too much pressure on yourselves (I know, easier said than done!). Good luck!

    Hey Anna!
I hate having my picture taken, I was dreading the engagement shoot.
Talked to my photographer before hand and when we met up I was relived that she was so helpful.
I focused on my fiancee and I didn't even notice the camera.
He kept me laughing, so the pictures came out natural.

I'm so fake in staged photos because I'm so uncomfortable.
If I can do it, anyone canSmiley smile
Can't wait to see your photos!❤

My husband and I were so tired from smiling and being pulled in so many directions at our wedding aha and I thought my photos would look like a forced smile but it was fine - I think your happiness of the day will shine through even if it feels tiring

For pictures, I agree that you should focus on each other rather than the camera. Photographers are used to engagement pictures being a couple's first time getting professional pictures done together and should be able to help you both relax if you are a bit tense.

Our photographer’s game was to have my FH seductively whisper the names of his favorite vegetables in my ear. I laughed so hard and it really helped break the tension.

But honestly, a good photographer will put you at ease! Only a few poses really felt weird to us.
