Off-the-beaten-path venues in Nj????

scarlett, on April 16, 2018 at 5:48 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Hi!!! So i used to do wedding planning, but it's been about 7-8 years since i've had my shop and now i'm getting married and after all my years in the business, i don't want a canned wedding reception. i had dreams of getting married at Terrain, but my fiance thinks it's too small for our crowd and we can't get it down to 110 guests. https://www.shopterrain.com/glen-mills-private-events/

NJ seems to have the most boring venues in all of America. I would love seriously anything on this list. https://greenweddingshoes.com/top-26-coolest-wedding-venues/

I also love Jardin de Buis but the don't do weddings anymore, plus are really small. We are on a tight budget because we don't have any real help from family (my mom is the only living parent) so a place with like a $5000 site fee plus $175 per person just won't work for us. We considered Grounds for Sculpture, and Waterloo Village but since both have specific caterers, they're just too expensive with little room for leeway. I DON'T want a tent...if i'm getting married somewhere i want to be THERE not in a tent in the yard nearby hahah.

Any other ideas?? I would love garden-y, sprawling ivy, blooming flowers, etc etc. Probably about 150 people or so!!!

What part of NJ are you looking for?

There are some different looking venues out in western NJ and in Hope, PA.

Any area of NJ and New Hope is fine too.

We are looking at HollyHedge but I am worried it will be too $$$

...and Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve but my mom doesn't like the idea of picnic tables because people won't be able to get in and out of them easily.

Also looking at a bunch of places in Cape May but i hate to have people travel 2+ hours and serve them like a piece of lettuce and a chicken cordon bleu so if my budget can't allow a decent amount of food, I don't want them to go too far.

Im getting married at the Skylands Manor. I love the place. However it may not fit the budget you’re looking for. ?

I totally disagree with you on NJ having the “most boring” venues. My problem was the average cost here and how my ideal venues were so ridiculously expensive.

Hahaha I just mean they're all banquet halls... So it's just one ballroom after another. instead of anything else really. I guess it's because we dont have the year round outside options

Literally in the same boat right now! Was wondering if you have any update on a wedding venue that you picked? Or ones that you considered? Love Terrain and love Jardin de Buis (R.I.P.) and we found out Waterloo has a $25,000 catering minimum on Saturdays HA HA HA HA. We seem to like the same venues so any help is really appreciated! !Smiley smile
