# of blankets for fall wedding

Kayley, on April 1, 2019 at 7:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
For those of you having outdoor or indoor/outdoor fall wedding that are providing blankets, how many are you planning to have. I will be having around 120 guests but I feel like 100 blankets is excessive. I’m planning on doing an idea like the first picture with the blankets from the second picture. TIA!!!

I am having this same thought, I have 80 guests and the blankets are in packs of 24, trying to decide if I really need to get two packs or if one is ok. But I don’t plan to get one per guest that’s too much

If you’re not going to have enough for everyone you might as well not have any. It would be incredibly rude to run out before everyone that wanted/needed one got one. You should provide AT LEAST 1 per couple and 2-3 per family depending on the size of the family plus extras just in case more than that want them. Think of it as a favor you should have enough for everyone you’re inviting excluding small children, although it would be nice for them as well. Any extras leftover you can give away as gifts later in a gift bag for a movie night or hot cocoa night.

My thought exactly! Where did you find blankets in 24 packs if you don’t mind me asking.

We got about 25 blankets for 80 people and most weren't used. We were married outside and it was about 60-61 degrees for the ceremony, so people wore their jackets. In hindsight, it was completely unnecessary and a waste of money, but we'd probably do it again anyway.

I think with 120 guests you should be fine with 50. Even that might be too many. Likely the guys will have suit jackets and the women will bring coats too if it's chilly out so no one will be standing outside with bare arms.

Thank you for the input. That’s definitely something to think about. I don’t plan on buying until closer to the wedding date and only if I have the budget for it. I want to be accommodating but the venue is heated so it might be unnecessary. It’s so cute though, hard to decide!

I didn't make the decision until Monday or Tuesday of the week we were getting married!

If you do decide to go with the Ikea blankets I'd order them online for pickup. It'll save you from having to find an associate to get you extras from wherever they store them and wait while they gather them.

Dollardays.com. I disagree that everyone needs one. People will come in their jackets, I think the only people who would need one would be girls who come in pretty dresses without a covering which I have seen happen occasionally. Our reception is inside with heat and a fireplace so most people will be fine for a half hour. They are welcome to hang out inside until it’s time to start. If it’s too cold we will have it inside anyway. Also it may be 70, the weather can be so unpredictable!

Thanks for the idea, we are getting married in the fall outside, it won’t be a super long ceremony but I’m guessing the older guests would appreciate them.

Yeah there’s no way I’m getting one for everyone. I’m also getting married in November so the weather might be nice. I agree that most people should be fine without them. Last year it was around 65 on our wedding date.

My daughter's wedding was outside the third week of October, and the forecast temperature at ceremony time (4:30pm) was 64 degrees with sun.

We had 120 on the guest list and I purchased 48 blankets from Wayfair - they were really just lightweight fleece throws in navy blue (one of her wedding colors) that I wrapped a burgundy satin ribbon around (the other wedding color). We had them in navy blue bins outside for anyone to take. Cost was about $3 each.

A few were taken during the ceremony and more were used after the sun went down when folks were outside playing cornhole on the patio. In the end, I had about 20 that we took home, removed the ribbon and donated to the local animal shelter. They are always looking for soft fleecy blankets.

That’s what I was thinking about, and maybe girls who didn’t think to bring a jacket in like a sleeveless dress or something.

Great idea for the leftovers! Thank you for your input! I was thinking of getting around that number. We will also be having a bon fire later on and I thought some guests may want to wrap up in a blanket by the fire.

I bought 25 blankets to be used outside around the fire pit. I had 40 guests. Everyone loved them even the men. Each family/couple got to take one and some took more than one. At the end of the night I had one left over that is now one of my favorite blankets for watching TV in.

Our wedding is indoors but we are doing blankets as favors. I plan on waiting till I have a better idea of who is actually coming and doing 1 blanket per couple (no kids at the wedding). I live in throw blankets at home so I figured it would be the most practical favor Smiley smile
