October wedding

Cristina, on May 11, 2020 at 9:55 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
Hello WW family! I don't know what to do at this point 😕

So our wedding is set for 10/25/20 and obviously everything is unknown right now. I contacted my venue and they recommended I wait til the time is a little closer before deciding if we will postpone. As a side note all my vendors are booked and most paid for with a few having a small balance.
Now my dilemma is we haven't booked our honeymoon or my Bachelorette because I don't know whats really going on. My Bachelorette is supposed to be in September but my bridesmaids and me aren't sure if we should book it with covid-19 going on. We live in California and planned on going to Miami but I don't know if everything will be back open again.

My assumption is that things will begin to open up but I'm thinking there will still be restrictions to an extent. Should I move forward with booking both the Bachelorette and honeymoon?? Our honeymoon was going to be the week after our wedding and again I don't know what will be open. We're thinking of cancun, Puerto Rico, or maybe Puerto Vallarta. I'm just so confused and am at a standstill because I don't know if I should move forward. Any advice is helpful!
How are all my October bride and grooms doing?

I would maybe plan a local bachelorette that does not involve flying. I think you should still have some type of celebration. Honeymoon I would hold off until you see how things go with travel. I also say you can plan things local and do something bigger later.

I am in the same boat (10/31) and from California as well. My bachelorette is planned for the last weekend in July due to everyone schedules being crazy when we were picking dates. And in Vegas and I’m pretty sure that’s not happening! We are pivoting to staying in California. Anyway, It seems like Florida is opening but it may depend on what your plans were. If you wanted to do a lot of clubbing, I’m not sure. I can see beaches, boating and pool lounging being possible and still lots of fun.
You could also book a refundable hotel and wait on flights for a few more weeks till things start to shake out.

Aww I'm so sorry! It's so stressful with the unknown but were supposed to book my Bachelorette trip in July so hopefully we'll have a better sense at that time. Hoping we can both keep our October weddings. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞.

Florida is opening but Miami is still on lock down. The beaches opened up last week (except for Miami) and they closed within 4 hours. They were crowded with people. My brother told me this, as my family lives in Florida. I would look to stay more local. I definitely wouldn't want to risk it traveling and possibly contracting/not knowing or contracting and getting sick before the wedding. I don't know which is worse. I didn't even reschedule my Bach party because right now I can take anymore disappointments and possible reschedules. I'm over this wedding season.

But whatever you do look for refundable flights/hotels just in case.

I Would Hold Off On A Bachelorette And Honeymoon. A Bachelorette Isnt Really Needed And I Think It Would Be Best To Just Save The Stress Of It During This Time And Focus On The Wedding, As For The Honeymoon Depending On Where You Decide To Go I Think You Should Be Okay. My Wedding Is In October As Well And We Are Moving Forward With It With No Intention On Postponing Unless Absolutely Necessary. Goodluck Smiley heart

Hi Cristina! I would also be hesitant to commit any extra funds to those travel-heavy events, especially if anything is non-refundable!! Can you save the same September date for a more local bach party? I think staying flexible and local is the best plan!

Same thing with your honeymoon - I'd see what type of policies and packages hotels & airlines are offering right now. If your favorite resort still has a good cancellation policy it could be worth making a reservation and re-evaluating closer to the deadline. But you should definitely check for clear non-refundable deposits, cancellation and postponement fees on all new bookings!
