October Midwest Wedding... Sandals ok?

Chloe, on September 29, 2020 at 3:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
First post- thanks in advance for your thoughts! My FH and I will be getting married Oct 1, 2022 as it was the last post summer date available at a dreamy Wisconsin venue. We like fall colors.

Is this too late (weather & style wise) to do sandals? Hoping to have ceremony on the lawn then reception in elegant barn. I am big on fair trade/ethical shopping and had long envisioned buying my bridesmaids and self Sseko sandals (customizable & strappy- linked below) with a “walk with me down the aisle” pun. But now I worry it will clash with fall? Look too casual? Is it presumptuous period to ask them to wear sandals with me? The venue is more green lawn & pines than trees that will have turned orange by then, but it is the Midwest so who knows if the “light scarf” weather we imagine will even hold true! Thanks for your advice!

If you're close to the venue - I'd spend the next couple of October weekends there to see how the weather is. Honestly, it can go either way. I live in NC and sometimes the weather lets me wear sandals through October and sometimes I'm already wearing boots in September. Only you know what that weather is truly like.

Those Sandals are super cute, maybe they would be better for your honeymoon or summer engagement party?

Anything can happen in 2022! Not sure where in Wisconsin you are but this weekend in Madison it will be in the high 40s/ low 50s. Just last week it was in the 80s. The weather here is so unpredictable lol

I think it could be possible but obviously no way to know what the weather will be like in 2 years! You could always buy them as a gift for your bridesmaids and let them make the choice to wear them or not at the wedding.

It completely depends on the weather. October can be a difficult month to predict. Sometimes October isn't bad and sandals would be okay, but other times it's way too cold. Since you still have two years, you could see how the weather is this October and next October and that should give you a better idea. They wouldn't need to get sandals right away.

True! Still a gift! All the comments so far are about weather instead of “can’t do sandals at a fall style wedding” so yep just going to have to be a game time decision!

October in Wisconsin could mean a light scarf... or it could mean snow. I wouldn't plan for sandals - maybe you could do Tom's or something like that? I would not want to be open toed in October!
