October and all other fall brides — what are your plans?

MayOrtiz, on July 8, 2020 at 7:03 AM Posted in Virginia Planning 0 12
Our wedding is 10/24/2020 and we are still planning on having it. If worse comes to worst we’ve decided we will trim the guest list down to 50 even though we are currently at 125.

We live in VA and we’ve just gone into phase 3 which allows gatherings of 250 people or less but that could very well change in the Fall.
To all of my fall brides, what are you doing? Postponing? Moving forward?

10/10/20 here and we are full steam ahead. Our guest count has jumped to 60 and our wedding is planned for the Florida Keys. I don't expect much to change from businesses shutting down.

Moving forward but feeling sick to my stomach. I can’t postpone. We cut our list yesterday but I think it’s too high still but fiancé looked so sad when his friends weren’t on the list. He has a ton and ir was an all or nothing deal even though he’s not even that close to some of them!
Venue holds 250, distancing holds 130.

We went from 150 to 118 but I really want 80-100....

I’m pretty jealous that VA has moved along that nicely. I’m just below the border in NC (though we’ll be living in BA after the wedding), NC is still in phase 2 with 25 outdoors and 10 indoors. My guest list is 150. I’m pretty determined that my plan A is all or nothing. If the state is not allowing 150, then I’ll go with my backup plan of an intimate ceremony with 25 now and postpone the larger plan A till next fall as a vow renewal. I’m trying to be hopeful that it’ll all work out and plan A can still happen now, but my venue and photographer are flexible and willing to reschedule without fees so I feel good about it if I have to go with plan B.

We are reconsidering even having a small wedding at this point due to health concerns and concerns regarding the virus. I feel it is not in the best interest of others. If worse comes to worse we will just elope now and reschedule down the road when things improve. I’m still going to marry my best friend regardless lol.

Nc bride here! There are different rules when it comes to wedding and funerals for phase 2. If you go to nc.gov and look at the phase 2 Q&A there’s “are weddings and funerals allowed to be held during phase 2? Yes. Even though there is no mass gathering cap on the people who may attend a wedding or funeral ceremony, receptions or visitations before or after weddings and funerals are subject to the mass gathering limit. Individuals are encouraged to follow the Three Ws to reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19.“ My venue told me that they fall under just having to stay under half capacity. Though fingers crossed we’ll be in phase 3 by then!

We have decided to postpone the big ceremony to next year and still have a small ceremony on 10/10.

Our wedding is on 10/2/20 in Atlanta and we’re in the process of postponing it because GA numbers are rising. Guest count is around 160 and I think it will be too much of a risk to have a wedding in October. Trying to postpone it to April 2021 but venue is giving us problems with our deposit. Saying if we want to postpone then we’ll lose our deposit because right now GA is open and running (which is ridiculous) in my opinion.

Well half capacity is still cutting my numbers in half and my venue has currently just been canceling all events in their community center but they’re part of the county parks and rec not a private business.

Man that’s unfortunate. If it’s county then I’m not sure what the policies are. I hope everything works out for you!

I'll jump in since everyone here is in the South! We were 10/10 and postponed to 4/10. I don't really want masks or distancing at my wedding. Hopefully it will be better....if not, it is what it is.

We're still moving forward as planned with our NC wedding, but we're also still waiting for our venue to open and provide guidance on any changes, including guest count. Crossing my fingers NC will move into the next phase later this month to (hopefully) allow our venue to open and provide these details. We've decided that no matter what, we are getting married in with at least our parents and siblings by our side. We are looking into livestreaming the ceremony and are planning a COVID-related FAQ for our website that will address things like cleaning protocols, masking, social distancing, etc. so people know what to expect. Our two hotel blocks actually have web pages dedicated to this info, which is handy. Best of luck to everyone with your planning and tough decision-making!
