Congrats! And October is a perfect time to get married from what I was always told.

Start planning now. A lot of people are getting married next year as well so you may want to start looking into dresses, caterers, florists, seamstresses, rental stuff, venues, photographers, etc.

    Use the wedding wire checklist.

As far as for budgeting wedding wire offers a budget calculator on your account as well!
I would say discuss and write down your budget with your FH and then look at how much you are willing to spend in certain areas like photographer, gifts, venue, cake, etc.

I am not great at budgeting so I’m not the best to give advice. But I will say start planning asap. Next year is going to be VERY busy due to the pandemic and pushed off weddings. I already had vendors tell me they were booked. We ended up getting all the vendors we really wanted which worked out but for other vendors we sent a lot of messages out and got a lot of “we’re booked” emails. I got my caterer, photographer, videographer, officiant, DJ and day of coordinator within a month of booking my venue in September. I’ll be getting married October next year too.

    1. Create a binder. Print out your contracts and put them all together and that way you can also jot down notes and stick them in there with your contracts to keep track of it all.2. Prepare for a lot of emailing back and forth and setting up video chats/ phone calls. I would not recommend booking anyone you haven’t talked to at least on the phone first. There were people we liked and then talked to them and realized we didn’t like them at all3. Once you figure out your budget decide what things are the most important to you so you can decide how much of your budget you’re willing to use for those things. Like our photography and videography is important to us so of our $29k wedding $10.5k is going towards photo/video. We picked a cheaper caterer for instance to be able to afford that4. Checklist! Super important 5. If you plan to bring any decor yourself start looking for sales now!

As others have said, line up your vendors as soon as you get your budget in order. We've been struggling to find availability for August.

We had a long conversation about budget, what was most important to us, what we wanted to skip, our potential guest list, and who was going to take on what. It gave us a great foundation to plan from.

This was extremely helpful! I have already run into some issues with catering, so I am starting to get a little nervous! We booked a venue and I bought my dress. Hopefully everything else starts to fall into place.

We are still on the fence about videography. We have not estimated that into our budget yet! We plan to do create our centerpieces ourselves, so I have begun looking at stores such a Hobby Lobby and Michaels for good discounts.

May I ask how many people you plan on inviting to your wedding?

Congrats! We're date twins! As others have said, try to get vendors figured out ASAP. You may have to be pretty flexible with your plans and ideas since a lot of vendors have been booking very quickly. Your budget will partially depend on how many people you end up inviting, so it's a good idea to have a rough guest list in mind when you're trying to plan and budget.

Yeah I would get all your vendors asap. Start sending out those emails. We weren’t going to do video which is why we picked a photographer that’s going to cost us $7100🤦🏻‍♀️ But then I changed my mind last minute and we booked one. I’m also doing all our centerpieces and flowers beside my own bouquet. I’m buying sola wood flowers and fake greenery and dying the flowers myself and making centerpieces, bridesmaids bouquets, hanging flower decor, and the flowers for our arch. I bought other decor from hobby lobby when they had Black Friday sales. And I bought other decor from target around Halloween. Some really cute little white ceramic pumpkins to use on all of our tables. I haven’t gotten my dress yet but I have appointments with a few places next month.

Just stay focused and make sure you get all your vendors. Don’t wait because some people I have seen say they are already booked for all of 22. Do you know what vendors you want yet? I found some of our vendors through our venue and then I found our photographer on Instagram that I had seen be suggested before and then our videographer I found through google and the knot was great too. This app is also great for finding vendors. Try to stay organized (I know is difficult when it’s overwhelming trust me). Also maybe create a bookmark folder on your computer dedicated to the wedding so if there’s any vendor or decor you want to come back to later it’s all in the same spot
