October 2020 Weddings - Where are your heads at?!

Dylan, on April 16, 2020 at 5:42 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 39
Our wedding date is 10/3/2020, and I’m feeling hopeful that it will go as scheduled. Can’t help but let the media frighten me a bit. I have so much empathy for those that have had to postpone or cancel. How are you feeling about your October date?

October 23rd bride here. We are hopeful, i as well let the medis frighten me. We are being hopeful. We are trying to make a backup plan just incase it is postponed or even if we can still have our wedding but it needs to be smaller. Never hurts to be prepared, but we are hopeful we can still have our wedding we planned this October

10/17 ... I'm cautiously optimistic. There may be some out of town people that don't feel comfortable coming but it's ok. Everyone is still working with me vendor-wise so I think they're all hopeful as well. My cousin was supposed to get married next weekend and had to cancel. They rescheduled for 10/30 so I take that as a good sign.

My May 24 wedding was postponed to August 15, and then postponed again to October 10. Having planned the same wedding three times, I have no choice but to be hopeful. The last time we had to reschedule, we had issues with just about every one of our vendor's availability. I'm glad to see that you all are being hopeful.

Our date is 10/31/2020. This has put a stop to all of our planning and purchasing. Depending on the venue, if we can ger our money back, we will just cancel for next year😩

    Date twin over here!!!
i am holding out hope but i’m not going to lie i’m very worried. i’m a nurse so i’m seeing this from a very realistic point of view right now...
i personally feel like at this point there is no way my wedding will not be affected by this even 6 months out...fiancé and i are kind of at a stand still. i really want our day to be all about our love, friends, and family and not have to worry about this virus interfering with those plans. i have brought up postponing but at this point we are going to hold off until the end of June/July to make a final decision.

October 1 here. Not worried yet! Beach ceremony with only 10 guests. Possibly stressing for a hurricane though! If we would have to postpone again, I look forward to going back to our original date, but to make it 2021. Staying positive!

October 31 here. Most of our planning has been done. We’ll make a decision in July about postponing. Here’s hoping there’s not a second wave....

This has all halted my 10/10 wedding planning... we aren't purchasing anything. I'm stressing about the timeline of planning getting smaller and smaller every day. Now with the new guidelines I'm even more at a loss. I feel so emotionally drained with the unknown. I definitely feel torn about what to do. We'll have to decide in June probably. David's Bridal said I should drop my dress off for alterations about 10 weeks before the wedding so that's basically the deciding factor. Trying to stay positive but it's getting harder!

10.16.20 and we are most likely postponing until May or June 2021. The new guidelines that came out today with phases 1, 2, and 3 don't seem very promising as I live in Los Angeles. I know that Calfornia will be really strict on social gatherings and I fear that anything over 50 people will be prohibited in October. Especially since phase 2 prohibits gatherings over 50 people and we are having a 100 person wedding. I don't see us being in phase 3 by October and even if we are, 90% of my guest list is from the east coast and I doubt people will want to travel here. This is so stressful!

Hello! Our wedding is on October 23. I am hopeful that we could still have it and everything we will be ok by then but we have already come up with a back up plan just in case. I am on the same boat as you. The media scares me when they say this could go on alot longer than we thought. Were just waiting it out until summer comes and by then we will decide if it needs to be postponed or not. Sending positive vibes everyone's way. ♥️

Seems like there are a lot of mixed feelings amongst us! I’m glad to hear the different perspectives. I think waiting until June/July to make any decisions is the best move. I’m in Washington, which unfortunately had the first reported cases in the US, but is now doing really well with flattening the curve. Guess all we can do is wait it out!

10/10 and remaining optimistic and going on with planning. I think it is a nice distraction and it gives me something happy to look forward to. We established a plan B and I reached out to my wedding planner and venue. When they are worried or reccommend postponement, then I will get worried. For now, we are just carrying on. Even if we end up having to push things back, at least I will have everything done!

We postponed from May 31st to October 18th. I'm still concerned to be honest and wondering if we should be pushing further out.

Thankfully we did a private ceremony with just us and the kids (we have one each) when this started to look scary so we are now married.... but of course we are pretty much paid in full for almost everything now. Still owe some money but minor in the scheme of things.

If we could cancel and get reimbursed we probably would, but that's not an option. It's all really frustrating.

I am still hopeful for October. I mean they are talking about opening thing up - I think we need until at least July to see how that goes.

Our venue was very tricky to work with initially so I'm concerned about having to change it all again.

10/3 here! We are not feeling confident and likely going to postpone until 2021. Most of our guests will need to fly to get to our wedding and we’d be sad to risk so many people not attending. The curve is flattening but we’re nervous about a second wave in the fall. It’s incredibly hard to decide with so much uncertainty

October 24th here. Going as planned. Some anxiety, but I just plan away when the rona anxiety arises.

I finally figured out a way to help me feel more calm at paying for the wedding. I took our budget that we are at now and figured out how much a week ill need to save. So far $63 for the photography, DOC, and venue. Everything else im DIY so will buy as I go. Unless I find a DJ and Caterer. Lol.

10/3 here! We’re hopeful but we definitely have taken a pause on booking things for our wedding. We have everything booked besides catering... but the catering were looking at says that you can’t change the date within 120 days before the wedding, which would be June...so I guess we will wait to see how things play out!
