October 2020 Wedding

Nina, on January 29, 2019 at 10:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Recently engaged and have been trying to start planning my wedding. The only thing I have is list of bridesmaids/groomsmen, and the date of course. 10/10/2020. Wedding planning seems so overwhelming with all the little details. Not to mention it's pricey!!!! I would love ideas on how to cut costs while still managing to have a great carefree time and honeymoon.

Keep your guest list low. Keep your bridal party to a minimum. Friday and Sunday weddings are typically cheaper than Saturdays. BBQ, Italian, and Mexican are usually the most affordable catering options. You can buy decor secondhand from local buy/sell/trade groups or Facebook Marketplace. Favors are an unnecessary expense. Use the largest portion of your budget on things that will impact guest experience like food, open bar, and music. Decor, florals, and attire should be lower priorities.

Hello Date Twin!! 10-10-2020 is such a fun date and easy to remember for everyone!! Caytlyn has all the options for you to stay on a budget. I would also check out the wedding planning podcast! I love listening to her and she has some really simple down to earth ideas for weddings.

Cut down on guests to limit costs. Consider not having a BP at all, due to hair and makeup for everyone.

I'm also getting married on that date!!! I love how catchy it is! I've learned to cut costs in a few places. We are having a smaller wedding, so cutting down the guest list clearly takes away some heavy costs. We also chose an all-inclusive venue. A lot of people say that those tend to cost more, but in the area we are with the type of venue I wanted, it made way more sense financially and it takes away a lot of stress. I'm also buying a lot of decorations secondhand and DIYing anything I can within reason. Having a longer engagement, I have been able to shop a lot of sales and just buy things as I find them rather than scrambling to buy everything at once.
