October 2020 wedding canceled

Bree, on April 13, 2020 at 2:18 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 29
Due to Covid-19 our venue has canceled our wedding. Even though it is not until October! With no chance to reschedule. Is anyone else facing this problem for your fall 2020 wedding?

My wedding is (hopefully) 9/19/2020 and so far nothing has come from my venue regarding cancellations or postponements. Are they keeping your deposit and not allowing you to transfer the funds to a new date? Or are you saying "no chance to reschedule" meaning all other 2020 dates are taken? It seems odd that your venue would keep your deposit and not allow you to transfer the funds, especially given the circumstances (if thats what they are doing).

Wait what!? No chance to rescheduling!?
Not what I've heard from our Venue, I believe their willing to help couples by rescheduling their weddings if they had to postpone due to COVID-19
We are getting married Sep 12 2020 and so far they haven't cancel ours.Sorry to hear that and hopefully you can get the right answer on what to do. Best of luck '

My first guess would be that the venue has probably taken a big hit from all of this, and they are not planning to reopen at all, but they aren’t saying that at this point. Hopefully if this is the case, they are doing the right thing and refunding deposits. Best of luck to you!

That's terrible! I'm so sorry! Is the venue refusing to reschedule or are there just no available dates in 2020?

That's so strange! Did they say they would refund your deposit? Definitely inquire about the rescheduling-- and ask why not if they say no. This may be a good time to check your wedding insurance policy if you have one to see if they cover deposits. I hate to even mention this, but I would question whether they are planning to file for bankruptcy....

I am so sorry, that is so hard! I wonder if they are planning on just closing like PP have said, it's weird that they are saying no chance of rescheduling.. I really hope they do the right thing and return your deposit to you, I'm sorry this is happening to you. Smiley sad

Bree - I also received that EXACT news from my venue this weekend via email. My wedding is October 9,2020.

My venue was Temecula Creek Inn. I’ve requested more information but they haven’t responded. I’m still in shock for that decision.

I’ll let you know if the GM responds back to my email. Honestly I have a feeling that because they’re owned by the Pechanga group which also closed down the casino they might have been hit harder which may impact the resort’s future.

The email was so vague and it left me with so many questions.
Now I’m scrambling to think of alternatives. I live in Los Angeles so Temecula was such an amazing destination. Smiley sad

This is a big concern of mine and my wedding is Oct 23rd 2020. I recently came across an article that suggested large gatherings would/should be limited for the remainder of the year though some business would be able to resume once the cases start to slow down. Im guessing the reasoning behind this concern is due to the number of cases as well as the risk of people being asymptomatic and being in close proximity to others in a group setting. Its makes sense for large concerts, festivals and sporting events but does leave a question marks around weddings. Im curious to see the updates over the next few weeks/months. I haven't received any updates from my vendor but its been very heavy on my mind due to the number of cases currently in the US and the states most of my family/friends will be traveling from.

So sorry to hear this happened to you. Hoping they will provide more information and clarity around this change to you since its no fault of your own.

    Bree and Dominque,

As another LA area bride, I'm so sorry. It does sound like maybe they are planning on closing or getting sold to another entity. That place is really pretty too, you both have great taste.

Just had to reschedule ours. Suppose to get married 5/24/20, changed to 8/1/20, haven’t heard of them doing that at all?

You should ask yourself if you and your FH really want a big wedding right now. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. My fiancé and I were supposed to get married this year July 4th, but when his grandfather passed away we were asked to move it due to Hindu customs. Thankfully we did and the reception hall worked with us in adjusting our date.
Just really have that talk because honestly this covid situation is going to really change how we as Americans interact with one another. Would it hurt to push it back a year at least until things straighten out?

I just wanted to comment that I, too, received an email from Temecula Creek Inn stating that our wedding on 9/25/20 would be cancelled with full refunds to be issued.

I am so shocked and disappointed. I spoke with my planner yesterday and she said that because TCI has been bought out by Pechanga, Pechanga is using this time to either revamp or remodel Temecula Creek Inn instead of having events this year.
    Ugh so annoying.
Anyway, my heart goes out to all the brides right now. We put so much time and money into planning and it sucks that all of this happening right now.
My FH and I are still figuring out what we want to do. So much uncertainty, it is hard to plan!
Good luck to all and stay safe Smiley heart

That's very unusual! Our wedding was scheduled for Oct 17 and our venue offered us a refund, or also the opportunity to reschedule to a 2021 date. It is good that they at least gave your deposit back. My guess is that they might be going out of business and don't want to disclose the details?
