Oct. 3rd Wedding

Lindsey, on August 13, 2020 at 1:16 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 6

Hey everyone,

My fiancé and I have made the decision to get married on Oct. 3rd in the church with about 50/60 people. After that we plan to go to the reception venue and still have the same meal we planned pre-COVID. We will also do a first dance and do a cake cutting, some smaller things like normal.

We plan to have a reception, meal won't be as fancy, like a taco bar, and a dance next Aug. I'm just wondering how we could still make it feel like a party for our wedding even though it will be 10 months after the fact? I'm just worried it won't feel the same and it makes me sad thinking about it.

Thank you

You can still make an entrance as you would for a reception and the decorations!

I'd make it exciting through the invitations -

"We did it, please join us on this joyous and beautiful day as we are finally able to celebrate with our loved ones and friends" - something to that accord

and then do as the pp stated, make your grand entrance and just make it a "post-covid wedding celebration" Actually you could probably even call it something to that effect.

If you send printed invitations and wear your dress/suit, I think that would go a long way in making it feel special. You can still do other weddingy things like having seating assignments and centerpieces, making an entrance, and even cutting another cake if you want to. It might seem silly to plan to do things that you've already done, but most of your guests won't have been there for wedding 1.0, so they'll still be happy to see it happen and I feel like a lot of the wedding feeling/energy that you're looking for comes from other people's excitement.

Would you want to renew your vows? You could dress up in your dress again or get a new dress to feel special.

As PP said, you could definitely set up the party so that it looks like a reception, with centerpieces and decorations and seating arrangements. Wear a white dress if you don't want to wear your wedding dress again, have the DJ make the bridal party and couple announcements and still do special dances maybe.

Wear your dress and treat it like a vow renewal.
