Observations from planning our pandemic wedding

Amanda, on November 29, 2020 at 8:51 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 2 7

Invitations - 90% of our guests THREW THEM AWAY including the postponement card with ALL the information needed including the new date, time, location, hotel and travel information and the website address. We are two weeks out and I am still getting daily text's from guests AND WEDDING PARTY about the date of the event, time, location and hotel information...because they lost or threw the cards away.

My advice....do not bother with paper invitations, they will get ignored. If you do use paper invitations do not spend too much on upgrades like paper and foil etc as no one will notice. Go to a local shop (shop small, shop local) and get the most basic option they have and be done with it.

Website - Go for the free one's as, once again, the majority of your guests will be calling or texting you for the address anyway and then they won't visit the website and will once again be calling or texting you for all the information.

My advice....type up a document with all the information someone could ask for. Save it on your phone or computer, this way you can quick send this document without having to type it all out multiple times a day.

Hotel Blocks - I say go ahead and create them so you can direct people where to go on your screenshot page or website (for the guests who bother to visit the page or did not THROW AWAY the information card). However, you will still have people asking you daily about transportation and hotel information, once again, send the screenshot page.

My advice....tell them to bring a tent and a bike at this point Smiley xd

Bridal Party....keep it SMALL and do not go over the top with gifts and things as the majority of them will not care too much about the effort or time spent on these items. I also suggest keeping the party small as the more distant these people are in your "circle" the less likely they are to make your wedding a priority.

My advice...keep it small.

This is my 2 weeks out vent, during the pandemic, losing 3 bridal party members without them telling us and us finding out they are not coming from other sources and us having to confront. The DAILY calls and texts regarding wedding information when we have sent out 3 different sources of information since March including our intial invitation, the postponement card AND a reconfirmation card WITH the information HIGHLIGHTED.

Rant over. Whew. Thanks for reading Smiley heart Smiley xd

Omg that sucks that you went through that, we had the complete opposite experience 🥴. For our minimony we didn't have any of those problems and I don't think we'll have that problem come March for our big wedding either.

I hope everything works out for you!

Well so far I’ve done a lot of what you said. Our venue has an all inclusive package that we signed up for. We’re budgeted a certain amount for flowers, photographer, invitations, etc. I’ve kept to the budgeted amount for invitations. My fiancé said the exact same thing about them- “why pay extra for something that a lot of people will be throwing out?” My bridal party is a total of 3 (1 MOH & 2 bridesmaids which are my sister, my daughter & a real close friend). I still have 4 mths to go so I’m assuming that the closer it gets the crazier it’s going to be???

Thank you for sharing this! I recently looked at another brides discussion and she lost around 2-3 of her bridesmaids and they did the same thing, either wait until the week of or wait until they were confronted first. I pray that your day will go wonderfully! I'll be keeping all of this in the back of my mind as I get closer to my big day!

I get stressed thinking about the weeks and days leading up to my wedding! I know that a lot of brides say that some stuff ends up hitting the fan as things get closer so fingers crossed you wont experience too much chaos.
