nye Weddings - Good idea?

Samantha, on September 21, 2021 at 12:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Do you think people would be annoyed at having to spend a holiday at your wedding, or is it a fun thing for people to do for NYE?

I personally would go to a NYE wedding, especially since I am pushing 30 now. I don't care for the club scene anymore so I would feel perfectly fine about attending a wedding - after all, it's still a party after the ceremony!

I don't think one can generalize about this. It completely depends on where guests live (do they have to travel to the wedding), what the weather is like that time of year (will this make travel more difficult?), what the guests typically do on NYE (long-standing treasured traditions? No plans usually?), etc. Too many factors to decide in the hypothetical if people would be annoyed or excited at a NYE wedding invitation.

I think a NYE wedding sounds like so much fun! As long as there is great food, an open bar, and lots of dancing… What more could you ask for to bring in the New Year?!

I went to a NYE wedding and it was so much fun! We are boring and never have plans so it gave us something to do for the holiday! The reception was in a hotel so no one had to drive which was super nice!

My friends are having a NYE wedding next year, I usually don't do anything so I don't mind going to a NYE wedding.

I love it and it gives your guest something to do on NYT. Early into our wedding planning I considered the same date. But my concern was whether hotels would be wildly expensive for a guest to stay in that night after the wedding.

I think it depends on the couple and the crowd. I know a couple who had the most fun wedding I’ve ever been to on NYE - but they are always partying and dancing so it was bound to be a blast. If I were to host a NYE wedding my guests would be pretty bored most likely lol.

If you plan on having a evening wedding with a big party atmosphere, I think it's great. Or a brunch wedding followed by a break and after party at local bars. This is assuming you aren't ruining any traditions in your circle. I don't have any, so I'd love a reason to go all out on NYE.

Honestly it sounds like a blast. Countless people don’t make any plans until the evening of NYE. However you need to send out save the dates early (invites go out at the standard time) and be aware that people traveling may not be able to attend. Also it’s the most popular, expensive party night so you need to get vendors lined up ASAP.

I would love it! We rarely go out for NYE because events that night are so expensive. A wedding would be fun and much more personal than just a big public bash.

It’s hard to know for sure it’s kind of a know your crowd thing. I guess for local guests it would be fine and give them something fun to do but I do think it may be a hassle for those who have to travel not to mention how high prices go on New Year’s Eve. Travel and hotels prices may go way up and make it an inconvenience.
