Allie, on November 11, 2018 at 12:03 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 9
I’m planning to have my wedding in nyc and am looking for the perfect venue! My goal is to keep the entire budget around $30k for 60 people. Thanks!

Are you looking to be strictly in Manhattan or are you also open to Brooklyn and Queens? Your budget could totally go further in the latter boroughs.

    Hi there Allie!!

If you haven't already, I would definitely start your venue search in the WeddingWire vendor directory! There are hundreds of venue to look and filter through by options like guest capacity and additional services like catering. Some of the venue pages even have a little tool where you can plug in details about your wedding date and get a quote as to how much the venue might cost you. You can start your search of New York wedding venues here.

According to the WeddingWire Newlywed Report, New York weddings cost on average about $45,000, the highest average in the country. So while I personally think you could keep your $30,000 budget, I think N offers a good point in that if you go out of Manhattan, you might have better luck with staying in your budget. Do you have an idea of what sort of venue you're looking for?

I got married at Deity in Brooklyn (Boerum Hill) and we spent $24K for 73 people. We got married on a Sunday (3pm - 9pm) in August, which was considered an off peak month. Wedding was indoors so heat wasn't a factor. $24K was everything except rings and honeymoon. We had cocktail hour and seated dinner with a full, premium open bar.

Hey, it depends on what you really want in a venue. I found a few catering halls that can meet your budget or you can rent out a space and do it completely DIY. If you are willing to do Brooklyn, queens, or NJ you can find a lot to meet that budget. I would suggest using wedding-spot, weddingwire and the knot.

Venues that will meet your budget:

    - Bay Ridge Manor (brooklyn)

    -Widdi Catering Hall (brooklyn)

    - Otto Kahn House (might be on the cusp of your budget because of their exclusive catering).

    - The Manor in west orange, nj ( gorgeous gardens, went to a wedding there and it was great).

-Terrace on the Park in Queens

    - Sphinx Banquet and Catering Center (great food and already semi-decorated, but definitely need a coordinator).

There is a lot of options in ny/nj area for your budget and guest list. I would suggest looking into what kind of venue you want and which items you want to DIY vs. having someone take care of them. Lastly, what is very important to you and what isn't.

(hope this helps but best of luck).

    Hi there,

Are you strictly staying in Manhattan? If so I am a tad jealous but if not, I think you can still get to see some great venues! I would recommend checking out Giando On The Water, they face Manhattan it is beautiful! We are getting married at Chateau Briand in Long Island, we added up our totals, including every single thing dinner rehearsal. day of glam, etc, for 110 people we are at 32,000. Happy planning!

    Hi there Allie !!

We are getting married at the W-Loft in Brooklyn,NY. We've managed to keep our budget under $20k.. we are inviting around 92 guests. The venue allows us to bring in our own vendors and alcohol, which was very helpful with keeping cost down.

We're getting married in Staten Island at the Vanderbilt on South Beach. Its about $13k for 100 people. If you're DIYing it, don't be afraid to look at venues on Splacer or Peerspace. They can be a little cheaper for weddings and won't neccessarily be ballrooms, if you don't want it to look like the typical wedding.

Also, someone mentioned Deity in BK. Its a beautiful venue and everything is included. Not handicapped accessible though. So if it's in your budget, I'd go for that one! It was out of mine.

We actually purchased alcohol here and there from wholesale stores, quite affordable. We have a pretty good supply so far. Our DJ is a friend of ours and know many bartenders... so this was helpful to pick out the right person.
