ny state guidance on weddings available:

In case anyone didn’t see this I just got this from Cuomo’s website. Specifically mentions weddings. Phase 4 is 50 people unless he issues an executive order. “No dancing” lol.

Thanks for the information. It's kind of sad and I wander how they will control people dancing. If you spend all that money to host a wedding for 50 people but cant even dance that sucks!

Our venue reached out to cancel on us, and is fortunately willing to refund us. Their interpretation of 50 people included vendors/staff so even if we were fine with no dancing it would be far fewer than 50 guests

They were really pushing to give the money back, not even trying to reschedule like they were the last time we spoke to them. I’m guessing it’s not profitable for them to follow all the guidelines for such a small event. I am wondering if almost no 2020 events is the end of them since they didn’t want to reschedule...

An Albany NY area wedding planner created what I found to be a great COVID Q&A. It cites when/where the info comes from. I am not associated with them (really wanted to hire them but couldn’t justify a planner in my budget).

Thanks for sharing! ALthough with the dancing it appears that it says “exotic dancing”- like in reference to strip clubs. It says patrons must wear masks when not seated but it doesnt say they can’t dance in masks..?

I know some brides told them their venues said no dancing. mine hasnt said anything about it yet. i dont see why it would be an issue with masks

I agree. It’s so irritating that it says 50 people or 50% whichever is less - if you can only fit 100 people in a room it’s ok to have 50, but in a room for 250 people you can’t have 65 people - who you could more easily spread out? It doesn’t make any sense and is so frustrating

Agreed!! I’m really hoping that venues find loopholes/find a way to make it work. I still have some hope that they will either get creative OR bring up the legitimate argument of being able to have more people if you are able to space them out. I guess we’ll see what the next few weeks bring...

I think dancing is actually allowed - it mentions “exotic dancing” which I assume refers to strip clubs. It says when people arent seated they need to wear masks. So my interpretations is that you can dance with masks but also heck if I know lol. I’m so over worrying about this Smiley sad
