NWR: Fitbit?

JessicaIsTotallySmithen, on March 22, 2016 at 12:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 51

Are they worth it? I have a garmin watch I wear when I work out that tracks heart rate and all that (minus steps unless I have it active) but it's so bulky I hate wearing it after I work out unless I'm staying in workout clothes, I know #firstworldproblems. I was looking at the fitbit Alta, it looks slim enough that I could get away with wearing it everyday and that with my watch. And it looks like it has a silent alarm so it would just wake me up and not FH. FH has been dealing with my 5am alarms for the past month and I hate that it wakes him up.

I have the HR Charge and I love it! It keeps me motivated to get moving. it also isn't too bulky and I wear it daily, with work clothes. the only time I won't wear it is for wedding events or things more dressy.

EDIT- wow didn't realize my post said I hate it but I love it. fixed to say 'have'

I had the Fitbit One. I liked it a lot, but sadly it didn't survive its third trip through the washing machine. I'm planning on getting the Alta...I think it's out this week.

I like the little zip as well! I think it counts steps more accurately since it is worn like a pedometer

I have the zip. I can't stand having something on my wrist so the zip is great.

I have the Flex and I have been actively using it for a year now. It helps me stay accountable and realize that I really don't need to eat half a bag of chips at 11pm. If you use it, actually track your food, and try to reach the goals you set, it is absolutely worth it. I've been eyeing up the Alta, but have been waiting to see how it has gone over since it was just released. Want to make sure there aren't any bugs. It's so cute!

I love my FitBit flex. Been wearing it for 2 years+ now. Really jonesing for the Alta! So pretty and has a watch display. If I could justify the buy, I would have one but I can't!

I have the Flex and just started using it again a couple of weeks ago. I love wearing it during the day and tracking steps- I know I walk more because I make it a competition with myself to meet the goals. I don't wear it to sleep because it keeps me awake.

I have a Charge as well, no HR, but I do like it a lot. I wear it everyday, use it as a daily watch. I like it mostly for my sleep tracking, and I don't take the step #s to heart, but it's good to know if I seemingly moved 2x one day compared to another.

But I do wear it 24/7, take it off to shower, swim, or anything reasonably nice event-wise.

I have one and I love it! I don't have it this week and my wrist feels naked without it. It's a really good reminder to me that I'm trying to make healthier choices.

I have the Zip. I stopped using it because I stopped reaching the daily 10,000 steps goal every day and it made me sad. It's HARD to reach the goal if you have an office/desk job. But it did motivate me when I was using it.

    I

ETA - WOW I wrote a whole thing and all that populated was "I"

I love my FitBit Charge HR, it counts steps, HR, calories, exercise - 'cept sometimes it won't catch the odd ellipitcal work out which is odd - but there are ways around it, sleep. I don't find it bulky at all, I actually stopped wearing my Pebble for that reason. BUt like others have said it's not fancy clothes appropriate.

I just got the FitBit Charge HR. I have had a LOT of trackers over the years and none really fit my needs. I work nights and that tends to screw up their monitoring or I had to tell it when I was sleeping. This one is supposed to know when I'm sleeping and when I'm exercising. We'll see how it goes.

I also saw some really cute covers on Amazon that make it look like a bracelet. I may get one of those for nice occasions. For work, I wear scrubs and half the staff wears activity trackers anyway.

I love my FitBit. They have great customer service too. Mine needed to be replaced, and they sent me a brand new one.

I have a charge HR and i wore it consistently for the first few weeks and almost never wear it anymore. I do love it though, especially the sleep monitor feature!

I have the Charge HR (free through work, only reason I have one) and I do have to say it's nice having the pedometer function. I take the heartrate portion with a grain of salt. I wouldn't use it if you are a serious athlete trying to stay within a certain range for conditioning, but it's entertaining.

I find that the fitbit can be very hit or miss with reliability. The GOOD THING though is that their customer service is very helpful. I have a friend who has had her fitbit charge HR replaced twice now, free of charge (this is why I would never purchase one, even for free, two replacements is meh) and this friend is very good about maintaining it (keeping it clean etc).

I am not familiar with the models and their capabilities, but I can say as someone who owns an actual chest heart rate monitor and also GPS watches (I used to run), it's good for everyday use, but not a replacement for the dedicated devices.
