I have a garmin watch I wear when I work out that tracks heart rate and all that (minus steps unless I have it active) but it's so bulky I hate wearing it after I work out unless I'm staying in workout clothes, I know #firstworldproblems. I was looking at the fitbit Alta, it looks slim enough that I could get away with wearing it everyday and that with my watch. And it looks like it has a silent alarm so it would just wake me up and not FH. FH has been dealing with my 5am alarms for the past month and I hate that it wakes him up.

I have a Charge HR. I like it a lot. I think it has been worth it when I am actually tracking everything to lose weight.

I love my FitBit! I have the basic Flex one, but I'm looking into upgrading to the Alta.

My husband had a basic one, lost it on our honeymoon, and I got him the next one up for his birthday (can't remember what its called). He really likes it! He also goes to the gym 5 days a week and logs all his meals, so he is very focused on being healthy. My mom has a fitbit too and really likes her! It keeps her motivated- if she is close to her step goal but not there yet, she'll even go walk on the treadmill or up and down the stairs a few times to get her last steps in for the day.

I have the same problem with my Garmin! It technically has all the bells and whistles including activity tracking, but I can only stand to wear it while running. It's big and clunky and gets in the way when I try to type, also the band is made of this evil rubber stuff that tries to pull out your arm hairs. I really wish they would make one watch that did it all, wasn't huge and had great battery life. Smiley tongue

I had the flex? (is that the first one?) But I kept forgetting to put it on. But I always wear my Pandora bracelet or a watch. So I'm thinking the Alta might be best fit as it's thin and does everything I need. Thanks for all the feedback I really appreciate it.

I have the charge HR and I like it. I have a good bit of friends that have one and we challenge each other. It's a good motivator to get moving.

My FH and I both have the Charge HR and we love it! It really holds me accountable and keeps me motivated. I like that you can have challenges with other people as well! I love when i have more steps then FH, which is rare since he is a PE teacher and walks all day long.

Raine, it really depends what you are using it for. For an all around fitness device, I'd say it's good for it's price point. If you are looking for a watch that is hardcore on accurate mileage and HR, I'd say get a device that is more devoted to that. They run in the hundreds of dollars. If you are looking for ballpark figures/general fitness, FitBit is fine, and priced as such.

I really like my Fitbit Charge. I used to be pretty committed to MFP, but since I got this a couple of months back, I deleted MFP from my phone. I feel like it helps keep me accountable. And it's small and not too bulky on my wrist. I'm not sure how accurate the sleep reporting function on it is. I mean, I know I sleep very little, but it says I average 2-3 hours per night.

The ChargeHR is water resistant, but I wouldn't say water PROOF. Kayaking should be fine, but I wouldn't go fully submerged for very long with it on.

I received my fitbit charge for my birthday last September. I love it and have worn it every day, however.. the soft plastic and around the hard plastic has started to peel off in several places. Even though it says it's water resistant I have never gotten it even a little wet, so it's not due to water. That has really irked me because I have owned it for less than a year.i wouldn't buy another :-/

I've had my Fitbit flex for about a year and a half and I love it. My sister just got the Fitbit watch (not sure what the official name of it is called) and loves that. I wear my flex everyday and add in exercise (especially workout classes and weights since it doesn't add steps) to track calories. It's the only way I've ever lost weight.
