Nuvaring users: like? Hate?

Megan, on April 5, 2013 at 10:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Probably tmi, but my doctor is recommending nuvaring, and I wondered if any of you might be willing to share experiences. Obviously, bc affects each person differently, but I'm still curious. I had a breast reduction last summer and went off all bc, so now I need to find something that won't make my new smaller boobs grow back into my old awful ones. I've also been steadily losing weight for the wedding and don't want to stop before I drop another 10-15 lbs.

So... Do you love it? Hate? Did it affect your weight/breasts?

I love it. It's so easy to use and you don't have to worry about it. I haven't had any problems. I didn't notice anything new with my weight, but it's pretty much impossible for me to lose anything anyway.

Loved it, used it for years but then lost health insurance. I had a hard time with the pill, it makes me nauseous but not with the ring. I could never feel it but (TMI here) my partner could and he loved it.

I never gained weight or broke out on it either.

Ugh I totally hated it! It made my boobs hurt, made my periods horrible, and I had to readjust it every time I went to the bathroom. It also made sex really painful for me.

I hated, but I thought I was the only one.

I hated it. It made sex uncomfortable. My partner could feel it as well but he did not like it.

Have it and love it. Ive used it for many many years. Never had any scares. And if it bothers you during sex you can take it out for 2 hours at the most. I don't usually. And in the past if it was my "week" during an important event or trip I just put a new one in and skip it : ) I am going to stop using it all together in about two months! Almost baby making time!

@Megan, I know...but I've never used it myself. I think, as with all birth control, it's trial and error until you find what works best for you.

I've been on it for the past three months. I get really nauseated for the first few days I put a new one in. I can kind of feel it during sex, like something's pressing a little too deep, but otherwise it's great. In fact, for the second and third month, I placed one in right after another. I had a bit of breakthrough bleeding, but otherwise it is okay. RE: Weight loss: I've had no real issues losing weight. I gained A LOT on the pill, so even being able to lose weight (~1lb/wk) on NuvaRing is a big friggin' deal for me! Oh yeah, and my boobs got bigger! I'm a natural 36DDD, and they definitely got fuller and rounder lol

I have used it for that last two years and love it. I was really bad at remembering to take the pill everyday so this was a good alternative for me. I didn't notice any weight gain and my boobs didn't get any bigger unfortunately lol.

@kt2of3 makes me nervous that 6 of your friends got pregnant on it though!

Been on it for almost 4 years and I love it. I don't have to remember to take a pill at the same time every day. Also, after having been on it for so long my doctor recommended I use it for a 5 week cycle instead of 4 (in 4, out 1). I had a little spotting at first but now I'm fine again. My periods only last about 3 days now and I've never had any side effects either (or weight gain). Just my experience....Good luck! Smiley smile

I loved it and never had any problems with it (I went off it when I lost health insurance last year, and never went back on). FH said it pinched occasionally.

I could never remember to take my pill, so I used the nuva ring for about a year. I liked it, never felt it, but I get lots of infections down there, and I thought maybe that was part of the problem. I now have the implanon implant in my arm. So far so good with it.

I love it. I have been using it for almost 2 years now. I like that now I finally get my period every month. Before I would only get it 5 times a year at most and now I am normal. It is easy to use and unlike the pill, it doesn't make me drowsy and I don't have to worry about forgetting to take it. FH says he only feels it sometimes but it doesn't bother him. It slightly bothers me that he can eel it though. So sometimes I take it out and then just put it back in (thats another plus)

I was involved in clinical trials for it before it came on the market. I loved it and could not wait for it to become available. I used it for 10years loved it with no problems and my skin looked great!

I would wonder if the girls that got pregnant removed it often and forgot to replace it.

Used it for almost 3 years now and love it. I forgot to refill my prescription one month and had to start over and I did get nauseous for two days after I put a new one in. But it wasn't that bad, when I was taking the pill I would sometimes throw up so a little sick to my stomach was an a improvement. FH says he can feel it but it doesn't bother him...maybe it's peace of mind. LOL I have also used the patch and hated it.

On the ring I've lost and gained weight (so its probably me not the ring) however I would say my boobs are bigger...(could be weight gain though too) however my periods are three days and are light and easy.
