November Weather - Too Cold??

Hey ladies, I need some serious advice. I just got engaged to this amazing dude and we're planning a short engagement, so we're getting married in November. Possibly the 10 or 11. Even the 3 or 4. We're big outdoor fanatics, so we want an outdoor ceremony, but would it be too cold in New Hampshire to have the reception in a heated tent? Thoughts?

I say keep the reception inside for the comfort of your guests, but get the majority of your photographs taken outside. That's your single biggest tangible reminder of the wedding anyways! That way you and your FH can get the outdoors piece without having to stress about the risk of chilly weather for your guests!

Well if you do it properly with the right company it can work. I know Wisconsin weathers are harsh but not sure how they compared to NH, so maybe this websites tips will help you out. It might be expensive but if you want an outdoor ceremony make sure you have an elevated floor and the sidewalks are secured on the top and bottom. http://www.madfoxparty.com/PartyTentRentalArticles/WinterTentEvent

Living in Miami I haven't a clue how to help you, cold doesn't really exist here except for like 2 days in February. I just wanted to say the two of you are ridiculously good looking.

Sure, you can elope, just the two of you. If you have guests, for the love of all that is holy, have it indoors. FTR, my fingers and toes go numb sitting in AC set at below 77.

I grew up in southern NH- Manchester - and even there is cold in November, nevermind the great north woods. Indoors for ceremony and reception with outdoor photos would be a great compromise.

    Congrats Ellynnh!!!

Can you go through the division of 'parks and recreation' in your area to have an outdoor wedding/reception? They typically have a lot of options and can be very reasonable.

Your pic is adorable - congrats! I would also recommend an indoor with big Bay windows that help make it feel like the outside is coming in.

My BIL got married in November I'm VA and it was fucking cold. SIL had to be wrapped in a blanket at some point because she started to look slightly blue. New Hampshire would be worse IMO

Congratulations! I'm from northern AZ and we did an event a couple years ago on November outside in a heated tent. Heating the tent was so much work and hardly anyone came. I wouldn't advise it. Maybe do your photos outdoors? FH and I have an indoor venue but are doing all the photos at an outside location. My sister was a BM in a wedding were they had outdoor photos in snow.

I am getting married on November 05, but Ceremony and reception will be indoors, I think will be cold and uncomfortable to your guests.

Even if you were to push the date to April or May of next year, it would be technically a shorter engagement than most. It would give you a lot more options for vendors as well, as most people book 8-10 months out from their date.

Question... can your guests wear snow gear? Because that's about the only way I would be able to tolerate 45F outdoors, heated tent or no.

Too cold! I'd be shivering uncontrollably.

Can you have everything inside and maybe do some pictures outside just you and FH?

    Welcome to NH!

We've been known to have snow in November, or even occasionally in October, so definitely too cold.

If you really want to incorporate the outdoors and are set on having it in November, maybe just have the ceremony be outside? Even that may be a bit too chilly for some guests though!

I'd definitely recommend either moving it indoors, or waiting until at least April!

I live in NC and it's already stupid cold (and rainy) here in November. I know up north has to suck even more. Have it inside and take your pics with FH outside.

    @Lval82 YES! LOVE IT!

OP: I think, with mother nature being as hormonal as she has been, that November in NH has the potential to be 55 degrees or 12 inches of snow. Is there an indoor/outdoor option? Some place where you can be inside, there's a patio/deck/space that is covered or can be covered and you can have the best of both inside and outside? Also, I'm not sure if I'd want to pee in an outdoors building or a porta potty in cool November (most places like that don't have heat).
