Not so normal bachelorette parties

Okay, so we all know that when most people think "bachelorette party" they think male strippers and heavy drinking. Not all of us are like that, so I wanted to put a thread out there for those brides that are like me and have decided to do something different (thankfully, my MoH is totally on-board...

Okay, so we all know that when most people think "bachelorette party" they think male strippers and heavy drinking. Not all of us are like that, so I wanted to put a thread out there for those brides that are like me and have decided to do something different (thankfully, my MoH is totally on-board with this idea). This way, if you have an MoH who thinks of the typical bachelorette party and not the kind of thing you want, you can send a not-so-subtle hint this way. haha

So, for my bachelorette party, we're going to grab some movies, some pizza, some popcorn, a bit of wine, and spend an evening in pajamas laughing with the ladies in my life who have really meant so much to me.

@mel we are getting a condo near wisconsin dells! one of the things on my must have list was a big brunch at paul bunyan's before we start drinking.

i'm a big drinker but not so much in going out so we are getting a condo on a lake about 2 hours away and bringing tons of food and alcohol so we will mostly stay near the condo. they are getting a boat for an afternoon and we will bar hop to all the different tiki bars on the lake. i really just want to stay in and dance and drink with my best friends like we used to.

I want to go sky diving or something similar. One of my BMs will be underage so we can't hit up a bar.

I'm a BM in my friend's wedding and for her bachlorette we are going white water rafting and zip lining... I'm slightly nervous about both, but should be fun!

My FH and I are doing a sort of co-party. All his friends and my friends will stay in the same hotel for a weekend but split up when we go out. So basically Saturday we wont see each other except us getting ready together. Then on Sunday we're doing a joint brunch. Many of our friends are couples so it makes it easier doing the co-ed thing.

We're staying overnight in a haunted house. A couple of my BM's are amazing cooks, so they're making a huge dinner and we're just going to spend all night on the property and see what happens!

We're going on a boat ride on the lake, then dinner, improv show then spending the night at a hotel where we can swim and drink if we want. We were going to add in escape room but that was too much. @erin c, it's a lot of fun!!

The last wedding I was in, I planned some bachelorette party activities with the other BMs for the night before the wedding. The MOH was the bride's sister and she did a spectacular job arranging for some "strippers" to show up at the party. She got one of their male cousins to show up with a pair of wire strippers, announcing that the strippers were here. He had two other stripper pun objects with him (I can't remember what else he had) and then said goodnight and left us cracking up. It was so well executed. ETA: I'm pretty sure he had a boom box playing some club music to aid his entrance. As I said, it was well done and I applaud her MOH/sister for setting this up.

@mna, totally agree with you there about the stupidity of the notion of "last night of freedom." Honestly (and as cheesy as this may sound), I've never felt more free since meeting FH. I can be completely and totally myself with him and never feel judged. He loves my quirks and I love his. I'd say more, but, as you said, that's another post entirely. Smiley smile

@Matt, that's awesome. A Halloween style party would be fun, since I'm getting married in October, but pajamas is way easier and more comfortable. Since nearly ALL of our guests are traveling, I don't think adding a costume to the suitcase would be all that feasible. I'm pretty sure my Swedish friends and future in-laws will probably try to get their tradition going. Apparently, in Sweden (where FH is from), they dress up the bride-to-be in an absolutely ridiculous outfit and just have fun. No obnoxious parties.

@Samantha, AHHHHH! Puns. I love it. Too funny.

We're talking about going to Harry Potter in Universal Orlando for mine or a beach weekend. Nothing too crazy. We took my MOH to Charleston for the weekend for hers a couple years ago. I'll note I say we because my girls are consulting with me to plan it. We're scattered all over the country (well, technically one is international but likely won't be coming- I'd never expect her to fly over from Scotland) and all need to take work vacation if we're actually going somewhere.

I love drinking, but this idea doesn't sound bad at all! I'll probably go the traditional go out and get drunk route lol, but I would not be opposed to your Bach partySmiley smile staying in can be just as much fun, if not more
