Not so grand exit?

I know a lot of people do big exits at the end of the reception with sparklers or whatever. Has anyone not done a grand exit? I kind of just want to leave...my mom even suggested changing out of my dress before we leave (we're spending our wedding night at a b&b). If we don't do some sort of exit,...

If we don't do some sort of exit, do I need to let everyone know that we're leaving? What have people done in the past?

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I hadn't thought about whether we're leaving before the end of the reception...probably won't. I like the idea of the dj doing a last dance!

Nice to know my social overload is actually rudeness. I'm sure having the bride sobbing over the coffee will be way more polite than us saying goodbyes and ducking out a little early. *eyeroll*

We aren't doing one. We are just leaving when we get tired. We aren't having a DJ or any formal dancing/toasting/tossing things. Our reception is at a restaurant and it will end at 9pm.

If you leave early, I think it's polite when the Bride and Groom let everyone know when they are leaving. IMO the best way to do this is for the DJ to announce joining the couple out on the dance floor. It could be a slow song or an upbeat song. Everyone is dancing and when the song ends the couple takes off and the DJ continues the dance music. It makes for a smooth transition and gives the guests a huge reminder that the party is coming to an end.

I'm doing sparklers. Reception ends at 11, so 10:50, last dance, then DJ announces everyone grab a sparkler, the venue staff will help get everyone outside and light the sparklers, we will come out, a few hugs and into the car and off we go. (At least in theory)

I stayed at my wedding until the whole thing was over, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We got to say goodbye to some of our loved ones, and we got to dance until the music was over. Perfect!

We will more than likely do a sparkler photo and a last dance but we will stay until all the guest leave.

We arent doing one. The Dj will just announce the last dance and so be it. We paid a pretty penny for the event so i dont care how tired i will be, im staying til the end lol

I dont plan on doing one because I want to spend the whole time with my guests. Honeymoon the next night so all I want to do is go home.
