Not Sleeping well days leading up to wedding

Sara, on October 9, 2014 at 8:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I slept horribly last night. I woke up a lot. I think it's both excitement and anxiety. I didn't think I was anxious but I ended up having dreams about stuff going wrong at the wedding. Rehearsal dinner food was gross steak sandwiches (not even an option in real life for us) and I was flipping out because my dad has celiac disease and needs to be gluten free. Then the next day I was late to my hair appointment, left my MOH at her hotel so she missed hers and had left my phone at the hotel so no one knew where I was and thought I was a runaway bride. Oh and my hair was jacked up.

I woke up this morning feeling exhausted. I have a 20 hour drive ahead of me tomorrow and I need to get some sleep tonight!

Anyone else have nightmares or just trouble sleeping the days leading up to the wedding?

    Sleeping was hard as it got closer I got less sleep and had a few dreams. Do you like tea? Try having some sleepy time tea before bed.

    Just remember it will all work out and be a perfect day. Also you will be running off adrenaline I woke up early day after my wedding barely slept the night before my wedding.

    Same here! I'm up until 2am with eyes wide open going over and over my wedding details to make sure I didn't miss anything! The minute I try to sleep, I start thinking of things I forgot to write down. Just a few more days and we can sleep!

    @Amy - I'm not a big tea fan but I just may have to check into it. It's weird because when I'm awake, I don't feel stressed. Whenever people ask if I'm nervous and I'm like nope, as long as I'm married at the end of the day I'm okay. Apparently my subconscious disagrees. haha

    @JAB - Glad I'm not alone. We're almost there!

    Had a dream last night that I forgot to confirm the timeline and review details with the photog, and she emailed me saying sorry I never heard from you so I'm not coming.!!

    I'm worried about sleeping issues, too, as I've struggled before w/ insomnia. I'm more worried about catching a virus or the flu because my immune system suffers under stress and I'm prone to getting sick at the worst times.

    I can't wait for my day but I'm sooooo excited to be on a beach in Mexico without a care in the world.....

    I sure did, even for a few days after too, but you know what, the day of, the adrenaline took over and I wasn't tired at all. Try not to beat yourself up over not sleeping well, it's very common. Relax when you can and delegate when possible!

    I slept terribly before the wedding. I'm sure most of the reason was excitement/stress/anxiety for the wedding but I was also sick. I would suggest taking some melatonin to help you relax at night. As Kimberly said, the adrenaline takes over on the wedding day and you really don't notice you're tired.

    I worry about this as I do have a tendency to sleep like crap sometimes and stress doesn't help it. Smiley sad
