Pick a date in March and set a budget. That's your first step.

Before anything, your step 1 is your budget. You can nail down a wedding within 6 months if needed. But your budget is going to determine most of your choices of when and how.

I'm getting married in March 2018 and we have plenty of time. The only reason why time would be am issue a year out is of you want a certain type of wedding and don't have the money to make it happen. If money is an issue then wait. Don't go into debt for a couple hours of fun

It's plenty of time! Totally agree with Hannah, those are the 2 most important steps in planning. The worst thing that could happen is you pick and fall in love with a venue you can't afford. Be sure to include everything from your bridal gown and veil to transportation the of no detail is too small! You can do it!! I found the Knot app very helpful. It came me on schedule. I like WW budget better and downloaded the app to that as well. We had help from my mom and dad so I was sure to get the amounts they wanted to help with. We included our honeymoon as well. I got engaged 2/27/16 and am getting married on 4/16/17. Time flew by but it was manageable :-) Happy Planning and Congrats!

About a year should be enough time, but some people advocate long engagements in some cases as it gives you more time to save money and a more relaxed planning schedule. It's up to you if you need a prolonged engagement, but on average a year is enough.

So I'm not really quite sure why you had a date set for your wedding without being engaged... but whatever?

Budget first. Then guest list. Then venue.

No venue? No date. Not hard.

That's plenty of time, don't worry! We're getting married this November and he just proposed about 6 weeks ago. You'll be fine!

Yeah that's plenty of time. Just make sure you get a budget down and getting a firm wedding guest list. Then go for the venue.. but you really don't have a date until you have your venue so that's something to think about!

We got engaged mid-October last year and are getting married in September. It's plenty of time if you get your ducks in row. Start early & do as much as you can as quickly as you can. My FMIL tried to make me believe I was rushing my planning and here I am roughly 5 1/2 months out and have a ton of stuff left because I thought it was "too soon."

Ps- Changing gone avatar will help us keep up with your threads and give as much advice and suggestions as possible.

Congrats to you both! Definitely doable! Smiley smile Pick 2 vendor categories per month and stick to it. lol (Example, first month, look for the venue and officiant, next month rings and catering, and so on)
