Not doing wedding favors... Rude or preference?

Stephanie, on May 30, 2016 at 9:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

So, me & the FH are cutting corners & trying to do as simple as possible, yet still make it beautiful. We feel the marriage requires more attention than the wedding. So, we've talked about cutting out guest favors. Is this necessary or does it seem rude/cheap to have the guest leave empty handed? Thanks for the input!

It's fine to go without favors. They are optional, not necessary.

Favors are completely unnecessary. I'm skipping them too.

Cut the favors. You can also skip chair covers and programs.

You dont need to have favors!

If you feel weird about it then you can possibly do something cheap and easy but honestly most things (besides food) are not something people really want to take home... I have no need for flower seeds, votives/ornaments/boxes with someone elses name and wedding date on it.

I hardly ever take the favor, and I can't remember which weddings had them or didn't. Skip it.

    History on favors.

One of the earliest accounts of a wedding favor dates back to 16th century England. It was common for couples to give love knots constructed from lace and ribbon to each of their guests as a favor and to represent their bond of love. Throughout history, favors have evolved into a tradition that can be seen around the world.

    Totally optional! Happy planning

Most of the time the favors are either left at the venue, in the hotel, or make it to the trash. It's perfectly fine to skip them!

Definitely not necessary. I've never gone to a wedding and been disappointed that there weren't favors.

Not necessary. Half the guests will leave them behind anyways.

My favors are bubbles for my departure and a candy buffet so I don't feel they will go to waste
